If you鈥檝e been reading any of my other posts recently you鈥檒l notice that there has been an upsurge of street art photography and this is due to the Bring the Paint Festival that was being held here in Leicester last week. There鈥檚 some really eye popping stuff adorning the walls and streets of Leicester right now and it has had a really positive effect on people and will continue to do so I feel.
But being the Monomaniac that I am, I couldn鈥檛 resist manipulating the shots I鈥檝e been taking with monochrome to have a play and see if my instincts were correct, and they were as I have been more than pleased with the results.
Yes, yes I know, I know graffiti is designed to be all colourful and eye catching but then so is nature right? But that doesn鈥檛 mean the wildlife shot in the serengeti won鈥檛 be a monochromatic wonder does it? And we still have this love here for all things monochrome so lets play.
This piece is a classic example of how well some of the street art works in black and white. This one is designed to be a 3D effect and I actually think this seems to work better in monochrome. We are somehow less distracted by the colour and the image of the hand with spray can reaching out of the wall is ,in my mind, more dramatic.
I am out again today to find more art but the rain may cut my day short so wish me luck!
