Hail to the Hive!

We had to make a dash to the nearby marina the other day before the storm got too close. We needed to empty waste, fill up with fresh water, buy fuel for the log/coal burner and a few other bits. basically make sure we didn't need to go out during the few days of bad weather and be able to ride it out comfortably, warm, fes and well watered.

Chirk marina was 10 minutes narrowboat chug away so we quickly( well as quick as you can in a narrowboat) popped in and got all the necessities accomplished.

After I'd empried the garbage and the toilet I had to wait for the fresh water tank to fill which can take a while and I stood looking out at the marina.

Could we do this? errr nope

"Why not?" I hear you cry!

Well because it's all a bit to closed in, side by side. Rammedup close together. Completely the opposite of what we like about boat life.

Yes they have access to unlimited power water and easy waste disposal but...... at what price?

Not only does it mean paying a monthly slip rental plus utilities you just don't have the wide open spaces and freedom. I love waking up in the middle of nowhere surrounded by countryside or even temorarily in a town centre mooring spot.

But to wake up and be surrounded by all these boats for me wouldn't be cool at all. Not one bit.

But they were nice enough on the Marina and looked after us but I have to say I was happy to chug out of there once we were finished back to FREEDOM!
