We have encountered many of these Lock Keepers cottages along our travels over the last year and they come in all shapes and sizes and some are just picture book perfect.
We encountered this one on our way to Wales and I instantly remembered it as we returned on our journey back. Yet somehow with the seasons changing and the light being different combined with the approach from a different angle, it all looked different.
Badger the Narrowboats’ colour scheme seems to blend in perfectly with both the cottage and the lock gates. The black and white on all seems to make them all look like they are part of a set.
Almost as if they were meant to be together. I love how Badger looks next to buildings like this. Makes for the perfect capture and of course in monochrome it just makes sense seeing as they are all already black and white.
I still find it really cool that people have now purchased these houses to live in. Each of these lock keepers cottages will have its own unique and distinctive history. I often wonder hiw much of it was documented and passed on to the owners. I’d want to know if I lived there.
