The first time we passed this particular spot was back in April but there were still many covid restrictions at that time and it wasn’t open but these have long since been eased. I have been meaning to poke my head in this canal side coffee establishment for some time now and today, despite running many shopping errands I seized my chance to check it out.
Even the name sounds cool. Great location and a very tastefully appointed building to be situated in. Intrigued I am, so in I go.
Now at home I always drink my coffee black but I do like to indulge in a cappuccino or anything else that takes my fancy when out and about. Usually some cake too ( cheesecake if possible) but sadly on this occasion I didn’t have the time. So I ordered a cappuccino and had a quick nosey about.
The staff were super friendly, down to earth and had a great sense of humour and I felt relaxed and at ease immediately. As a stranger in a strange land ( as I always feel in a new town) that’s such a great skill for the staff to have and they made me smile and I felt immediately at home. I also loved the fact that I could see our little Badger the Narrowboat from the balcony seating while I sipped my coffee and took photos.
The cafe itself was also very cool with a few interesting quirks. The fridge that turned out not to be a fridge for instance but merely a door to the downstairs bar area. I made a mental note to go in another day for a beer and lunch.
All in all as quick a visit as it was It was a useful information gathering mission and as I know we will be back in town again in about 4 days or so I am going to head back in for sure.
And it only took 30 seconds to walk back to the boat, superb!
