#Beersaturday enjoying a few different beers and the last Octoberfest.

Well this #beersaturday I started with an Oaktoberfest brewed by Firestone Walker Brewery. Firestone Walker Brewery is located Paso Robles, California. This brewery started as two brother-in-laws doing a little homebrewing and eventually turned it into a business. The two brother-in-laws were Adam Firestone and David Walker which is how the brewery got it’s name. Firestone Walker Brewery has become a fairly large brewery that distributes Nationwide. This Oaktoberfest said it was oak aged which I tend to like. Most oak aged beers are aged in old whiskey barrels. This one was aged in French oak barrels and I didn't get that oak barrel taste from these that I am use to.

The Oaktoberfest was a lager and nothing special about it. It was an easy drinking lager. The breweries website states that this beer was brewed with Weyermann Pils, Vienna, Munich, Cara Hell, and Cara Red malts. From the malt selection I expected a very flavorful lager but it was very basic. This was not a bad beer just basic.

This #beersaturday I had some yard work and cleaning of our Barn for our mini horse, goat, and sheep to get ready for an upcoming rain storm. Our animals spend most of the day in the barn instead of roaming the pasture when it rains. I wanted them to have a clean area to spend the next few days. As I cleaned the barn and cut a few branches that could possibly fall from trees in the yard from the storm, I had a very differnt beer brewed by Coronado Brewing Company.

The label on this beer was strange as it had a great white shark wrapping around the can. Coronado Brewing Company is located in Coronado, California with most their beers being brewed in San Diego, California. This beer was called "Bigger Boat" which makes the great white shark on the can make more sense. The 1975 movie Jaws had a famous line where the great white shark swims under the boat that is hunting the shark and the comment "Were gonna need a bigger boat" was made.

Not knowing what to expect from this beer since it states it is an hazy IPA with rasberries, blueberries, vanilla, and lactose. It was something very different, it had the bitterness expected with an IPA but it also had the strong berry flavors. The vanilla and lactose were a good way to balance the strong sweet berry flavors and bitter hop flavors. I did really enjoy this beer but because of it having so much big flavor it is one of those beers where you only want to drink one of them then move onto something else.

The next beer I had for the day was brewed by Two Pitchers Brewing. Two Pitchers Brewing is a brewery from Oakland California that mixes beers with fruit or fruit juices. Two Pitchers Brewing states that the type of beer with fruit they sell are called Radlers which is a type of beer from Germany.

This beer or Radler was called "Pop Top" and was a wheat ale with pomegranate lemonade. The lemonade flavor was not overpowering and was pleasant to drink. It did seem to be more of a hot summer day beer but I still enjoyed it.

I had one more thing I wanted to ge done for the day but first a black and tan. I previously made a short video of my favorite tool called a Black and Tan Turtle made by Lagerhead. Black and Tans are one of my favorite go to beers.

The final thing I wanted to get accomplished this #Beersaturday was kegging up a Spiced Honey Holiday ale that I made for the upcoming holidays.

After kegging the Holiday ale I placed it into the kegarator to chill it for a day or two. Once the beer was chilled it really brought the taste #alive. I aways taste the beer once they are done fermenting but getting them chilled and tasting them how they will be served to guests is always a happy moment when the beer you made comes out as expected. My family and friends should enjoy it.

The storm has just about finished and everyone is #aliveandthriving. We look like we are set for a few more storms to come through this upcoming week. The rains are much needed right now as the bay area of California has been in an extreme drought.
