WORKPLACE ABUSE / ABUSO LABORAL

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here. I find it very interesting—and useful—to write about things that have made us a little angry, as it serves as a release, a catharsis.

What has made me a little angry recently is something that hasn't directly affected me, but it has been unfair.

Here in Venezuela—as in every country in the world, I believe—there are laws that govern—or "should govern"—the workplace. These laws are contained in a 100-page document! You can access it by clicking here. Please note that the file will download automatically when you click.

Article 167 stipulates that the daytime work shift cannot exceed 8 hours and the nighttime shift 7 hours. However, my son, @luisfe, forced by the severe economic crisis we are experiencing, had to put his university studies on hold and start working.

He took his resume to bakeries, pharmacies, and supermarkets, but they didn't call him back because his resume had a major flaw: it stated "no experience." However, after printing several resumes—much to our friend Gisela's delight—he went to a supermarket where the manager only glanced at his resume and told him to get the job right away. It turned out they had fourteen of their employees on sick leave due to a chickenpox outbreak, so they didn't make a fuss about his lack of experience.

Well, at that supermarket, they work Monday through Saturday from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm with only 15 minutes for lunch, and on Sundays from 7:30 am to 4 pm, with no days off during the week. We're talking about a twelve-hour workday, which is illegal.

Okay... I'll get to what bothered me: Two of his coworkers were absent the Monday before last. They both earn $40 a week, and at the end of the week, because of their absence, $30 was deducted from their pay, leaving them with only $10. Finding this out really upset me; it's an abuse, it's playing with a family's livelihood.

It's hard to find a job, and that's why employers take advantage. Nobody dares to report them because it would mean losing their job and accomplishing nothing. Well, that's what bothered me.

Hola, comunidad, es primera vez que publico en este entorno. Me parece muy interesante - y útil - esto de escribir acerca de cosas que nos han hecho enojar un poco, ya que sirve de desahogo, de catarsis.

Lo que me ha hecho enojar un poco recientemente ha sido algo que no me ha afectado directamente, pero ha sido algo injusto.

Acá en Venezuela - como en todos los países del mundo... Creo - hay leyes que rigen - o "deberían regir" - el plano laboral. Estas leyes están comprendidas en un documento de ¡Cien páginas! El Artículo 167 determina que la
jornada de trabajo diurna no puede superar las 8 horas y la nocturna 7 horas. Sin embargo, mi hijo @luisfe, obligado por la fuerte crisis económica que estamos pasando se vió obligado a congelar sus estudios universitarios y ponerse a trabajar.

Llevó su currículum a panaderías, farmacias, supermercados, y no lo llamaron porque su síntesis curricular tenía un gran defecto: decía "sin experiencia". Sin embargo, después de haber impreso varios currículums - para beneplácito de nuestra amiga Gisela - llegó a un supermercado en el que el encargado le dió solo un vistazo al currículum y le dijo que se quedara de una vez Era porque tenían de reposo a catorce de sus trabajadores debido a una epidemia de lechina, por eso no hicieron lío por el hecho de que no tuviera experiencia.

Bien, en ese supermercado trabajan de lunes a sábado de 7:30 am a 7:30 pm con solo 15 minutos libres para almorzar y los domingos de 7:30 am a 4 pm y no tienen ningún día libre a la semana. Estamos hablando de una jornada laboral de doce horas diarias lo cual es ilegal.

Bueno... Voy a lo que me molestó:
Dos de sus compañeros de trabajo faltaron el lunes antepasado, ambos ganan 40$ a la semana y al concluir la semana, por la falta, les descontaron 30$ pagándoles solo 10$. Saber esto me molestó mucho, es un abuso, es jugar con el hambre de una familia.

Está difícil conseguir empleo y por ello los empleadores abusan. Nadie se atreve a denunciarles porque sería perder el trabajo y no lograr nada. Bueno , esto fue lo que me molestó
