This is the third year of dementia caretaking. The situation is more or less the same. At times it worsens and at times she appears normal. I wonder if this is the case with all such affected people. Sometimes, she has memory but sometimes she loses it all. She is unable to walk by herself because of slight Parkinson's disease as well.
God gives responsibility to those who can handle it well
That is what I keep saying to myself when people close to her just do not turn up to share the responsibilities. God's power is what keeps me going on and not break down.
You take care of everyone, will I not take care of you?
At a time of complete desperation, this is what I thought I heard, during a sleepless state. I am ever grateful to the Almighty for carrying me along the LIFE PATH
After the evening begins the sun down syndrome. She begins to imagine people around. She remembers her childhood pranks and starts to imagine going to nearby shops and all. Day after day, life goes on. Both my husband and I are thoroughly exhausted but we do not complain because it is our duty to look after her. She has helped us remain united and done a lot of other good things as well. It is sad that some who used her do not remember it, conveniently. Well, Karma still works.
The internet dementia-related forums have actually helped me a lot. Did you know that a lot of dementia patients actually died because of choking? Well, that is a sad truth and I am careful to overlook every feeding time of hers. We live in a village and hospitals are not situated nearby. I miss the city life during such occasions.
I only wish that humankind realize the value of relationships, true love, the importance of health and that the only thing that will remain is truth. Lies, however polished it may be will come to light someday or another.
Praying to God to give me more strength than ever to face life and to never compromise being honest.
