Hello there! @saydie here with my another #threetunetuesday playlist which is a project created by
@ablaze.
Three months ago, while browsing through my recomended videos on Youtube, I come across this band called Polyphia which is a primarily instrumental progressive rock band based in Plano, Texas, formed in 2010 and right away, I get hooked by their songs which mostly consist of instrumentals. I really like most of their songs but this the three were the ones that I recommend for various reasons.
Polyphia- Lit
The 1st on the list was the 2017 single Lit. The video cuts between the band playing with cool K- pop clothes and a guy dancing in the song with this cool animations over the top and is something that you will not expect from a progressive metal band. The same is true for the song itself that brings elements from electronic music and based from a the main guitarist, the song was heavily inspired by an Ariana Grande song.
Polyphia- G.O.A.T.
The next song I have is G.O.A.T. from the 2018 album New Levels New Devils. To me this is the song where the band was finally established the sound that they were working for years with this fusion of Math Rock, Progressive Metal and Trap Music. It is also interesting because despite being not really Metal at all, it still somehow feels metal which a metal fan like me still likes but can also be liked by someone who does not listen to metal or don't care about guitar.
Polyphia- Playing God
The Last music on this list will be Playing God from the 2022 Album Remember that You Will Die. The song was divided on two parts. The First one was some sort of chapel with roman pillars. At first, I thought that after the intro, it will be going heavy but was surprised when the Rhythm guitarist started to play lead. On the second part, they moved on a mansion were they were very laid back as the guitarist were either sitting on a couch or lying on a bed while playing their guitars. Also I want to give credits on the drums that were so tight and clean, I almost thought that it was midi track.
And that was it for this week's #threetunetuesday post. It's really refreshing to hear sounds like this where there were no vocals and you can just appreciate the pure talent on instruments alone.
See you until next time!
