It all started with this picture of the moon. My moon.
I have tried for years to capture how pretty the moon is, how it makes me feel, how in awe I am at how it pulls the tides and tells people when to go crazy..... I have so desperately wanted to take a picture, to capture one moment in the agonizingly long life of this beautiful thing God set in motion that dutifully circles our home and is our silvery sentinel in the vast darkness of life between our sun’s set and its rise again.
I wanted to take this picture and have it.....keep it.....but I never was able to get it just right and I always felt a bit downcast about the whole thing.
Suddenly, it just sort of...happened. I am not certain what I did or if I even did anything at all besides try a different camera but this picture makes me indescribably happy. I reckon being this pleased with such small things in life is a blessing I’m grateful for.
So of course (as I do with everything that makes me happy) I began researching the moon: its Truename, its lore, its landmarks.....most of which I had studied before.....when I suddenly noticed for the first time that our moon has a Mare Crisium, a “Sea of Crisis”.
Damn, Moon, me too.
