Tried out a complete different combo on lunch

Tuna Fish And Sweet Potato.png

Our lunch usually consists of rice and roti, daal, several curries, salad, Papad, pickle and sometimes sweet khir...I mean the list goes on - possibly we are the people who spend a lot on food. It does not feel complete, if there are at least four to five side items on the table along with rice / roti / daal. And its not just occasional, its an every day affair, so thanks to her, who takes care to make sure, every one's choice is fulfilled, which of course takes considerable amount of time and energy. Recently, the kid is at home, preparing for his JEE Mains, and he does not want to eat our regular menu, because it makes him sleepy, so he suggested we try something like an American Menu 😀 - some meat or fish and salads or just a side item. So this idea evolved from there and he asked me to bring Salmon fish and sweet potato, but unfortunately I didn't get Salmon fish, as the only Falcon Chilika Fresh outlet near us has been closed now. They do have an online order, but unless ordered very early morning, it is delivered late. So I decided to explore the local market and the best that I got is the Tuna Fish.

And here are the ingredients used for Tawa Fry fish - the kid has learned a lot about cooking as he has interest, I am zero on that area.

Garlic Ginger paste and those powders were all that was used along with mustard oil.

And then fresh sweet potato is available during Winter and we are a big fan of it.

They were boiled first.

And then a little smoky affair added to them. Usually, sweet potato is best cooked at slow heat in Chullah, the traditional way, but that option is only available in my native. Oven is another alternative, but the kids wanted the lunch fast, so this route was taken.

Ready to be served, they surely looked delicious.

The red ones did not taste very good, but we still managed.

A complimentary salad was necessary, as we are habituated to many items on the table, was feeling empty - it takes time to change habit.

So, this was our American style lunch, and even though, me and my son were satisfied, the lady did not like the taste of this fish - it kind of tasted more fishy....that smell, probably you can understand. She is happier with our traditional dish, even though, that takes more time and energy.

For me it's a WIN-WIN both the side :)
