“El burrito sabanero” es un villancico creado por el compositor venezolano Hugo Blanco, para la temporada navideña de 1972, desde entonces escuchamos este éxito no sólo en Latinoamerica, ya que las notas han trascendido las fronteras y los continentes.

De Venezuela para el mundo

Fue grabada primero por el folclorista venezolano Simón Díaz, incluida en su disco “Las Gaitas de Simón” donde es acompañado por la Coral Infantil de Venezuela, y luego se grabó con el grupo musical infantil venezolano “La Rondallita”, en noviembre de 1975.

La voz del niño que escuchamos en este clásico navideño es de Ricardo Cuenci, quien interpretó la versión que alcanzó mayor popularidad en varios países de Hispanoamérica y Europa desde finales de la década de 1970, hasta nuestros días.

No es un burro que lleva sabanas, ni tampoco es bananero: “El burrito sabanero” está inspirado en la sabana venezolana.

¿Quién fue el niño que dio voz al Burrito sabanero?

La grabó cuando tenía 8 años, Ricardo Cuenci fue un cantante venezolano que formó parte del grupo ‘La Rondallita’, una selección especial de niños del Coro Infantil Venezuela. Cuenci hizo muchas giras con sus compañeros dentro y fuera de Venezuela. Y fue tanto el éxito que, en Puerto Rico, lo invitaron a formar parte del quinteto Menudo, pero sus padres no quisieron.

Ricardo Cuenci pasará a la historia como la voz que cantó El burrito sabanero pese a que, según algunas fuentes, nunca recibió ningún pago por interpretar este villancico y que, prácticamente, es un desconocido en su propia tierra.

"El burrito sabanero" is a Christmas carol created by the Venezuelan composer Hugo Blanco, for the 1972 Christmas season, since then we have heard this success not only in Latin America, since the notes have transcended borders and the continents.

It was recorded first by the Venezuelan folklorist Simón Díaz, included in his album "Las Gaitas de Simón" where he is accompanied by the Children's Choir of Venezuela, and later it was recorded with the Venezuelan children's musical group "La Rondallita ”, in November 1975.
