Indian parents and their parenting is not something that westners would approve of. Here, parenting is not based on what is actually needed to be taught to your child, but depends more on what your neighbor/friend is teaching their child. We just cannot concentrate on our own family, instead we try to learn from what our neighbors have been doing without realising the impact it would have on our and our family's life style.

Moral values, discipline and the joy of living is sidelined and the only thing a proper upbringing of your child depends solely on his/her paycheck that your child would earn in their later lives.

I have aunts and uncles who give their unsolicited advice on 'how to improve your life. Sadly, the only way they think that my life would improve is by me finding a job and throwing my kids in a creche. They just don't want yo listen when I tell them I am happy taking care if my children and don't need a job. I hate it when. These aunts and uncles cannot stop bragging about their children's achievement and mentioning their annual salary around 10 times in every hour long conversation.

I hope, the new lot of parents are smarter and focus on making their children learn the joy of living rather than make them run the rat race. Giving them examples of other kids only makes them self conscious which would later on have a severe impact on their personality.
