My mum once forced me to attend a class that would prepare me for competitive exams. I had just delivered my second child and was in immense pain, but my mom for some reason not taking a 'No' from me. Now, if you have ever met me, then you will know that I am Math crippled. Simple calculations makes me confused, but my mum had strong hopes that that particular classes had a magic wand that would do what my teachers in school couldn't do in 10 years that I was there.

Anyways, I obliged to my mom's demands and left my 15 day old baby and my 7 year old elder one with her to attend the classes. I sat there in pain and they assigned me a tutor who was younger than me in age, was an engineering graduate and super proud about herself. Though she couldn't crack any exam, she ended up being a tutor at the same coaching institute where she was once a student. I told her my hatred towards math and she assured me that she can make me crack the exams if I paid attention.

So, the first day was awesome. We did the basics and I could solve it all. 2nd day the sums got a little harder and I started taking time to solve it and could see those fine creases and a disgusted look on her face. The week passed by like that and then she started being vocal about her displeasure. She started saying things like she doubted if my post graduation degree in Human resource was real or fake. I took it all in good humor and told her that's how I am and math is beyond my abilities. Anyways, I had paid fees for the month and I had to push it through the month at least.

I was dragging myself to her class to see how much I can disgust someone and also listen to all the demotivating things. My mum would still not listen to me and would pack me and forcibly make me attend those classes. I can say I was slipping into depression and had absolutely no one with whom I could communicate.

One day, I was at her class and she got mad at me. She told me that I was dumb as hell and she has never seen a fool like me all her life. She said that I should never teach my son math as if I do he will end up being a looser like me. I should have shouted back at her and asked if her mother is a scholar to get a math genius who couldn't crack any exams, but I was too broken to talk anything. My eyes welled up and I packed my bags and left the class. I reached home and told my mom that she was wrong in sending me there And no matter what, j would never take up any classes and math is out of my league.

My son is in 5th grade now and is doing well at school. I am his tutor at home and I teach him Math, science, English and everything else. I am sure that I don't need to teach him complicated math as he would do it himself if he has interest in it. I don't know what the girl is doing presently, but i would like to meet her sometime in life and tell her how much she hurt me when she said I was a looser.
