Disagreement with a generation older or younger to yours is very common. I and my parents often land up in arguments over which generation has better songs. While I like the latest peppy dance numbers, my parents cannot understand the lyrics of the same. Food is another section where we can never be on the same page.

Well, I used to feel offended when my parents would say things that would offended any present generation people, but then I learnt to live with it.

While I however deal with my parents and don't give a damn when they disagree with the things that my generation people find cool, I find it really hard to deal with my Mother In law who often quotes her example. She walked 6 km to her school everyday, she would come and help her parents with household chores, she would cook from an early age, she would make 10 types of dishes everyday for lunch and dinner and would grind the paste on the grinding stone. She often taunts me saying I am lady. I wish I could tell her my point of view too, but I am pretty sure it would offended her to the core.

Well, I always has transport facility to school, because the school was way too far than hers. Earlier school was not important, but during my time we could not miss a single day of our school. I could never learn cooking or house chores or help my mom because I had homework to do. She would make 10 types of dishes everyday for lunch, but I couldn't because I was completing my post graduation and had to study. While she quit her education much before her wedding, I continued my education even after my child birth.

While tagging me lazy, I wish she realised that she is also lazier than her mother In law who cooked using fire wood and had to take care if 10 kids alone. Sadly, they just feel the present generation is wrong. It is time that they realise that change is constant and we must embrace it.
