Parenting is never an easy task. Children needs a lot of care and grooming. They are empty and needed to be filled with knowledge, skill and talent to be proficient when they are grown. To even show how serious it is, kids depends on their parents to learn everything apart from crying. They learn how to walk, eat, speak and even write. It is the work of their parent to give them identities including their names etc.
The role that parents played to train a child can not be over emphasised. In the physical and material needs, both parents cater for them. They provides clothing, foods, books etc which are necessary for the child training and education. Without those needs, there will be a huge psychological effect on the child. The life of the child will seem void and will surely affect their esteem and confidence whenever they are with their peers and as they growing up.
Scriptually, it is the responsibility of the parents to guide their child according to their faith. Being active, will surely guide the early stages of the child even as no religion of the world teaches cruety to the children. They taught them the basic of human relationships like respect, obedience etc. Both parent took the children along so that they will be fully grinded in the truth and faith, they upheld so that they will be responsible and mature adult.
Apart from the parents, others can help to nurture and train an infant. In an extended societies, uncles, aunties, cousin, friends and even communities get involved. Every member of the family and society have strong influence on the mind of the child. The environment at which child are reared have strong influenced on the lives. That is the reason why everyone should shun evil and bad neighbourhood because of these dangers.
If the challenges of raising children by both parents is huge, what about the cases of single parents. It was never their plans because it required two parents to begotten children but some circumstances beyond their control leads to that scenerio. So they are working hard for their kids. Many nights, I saw my mother cried because of the heavy load on her shoulder while rearing me and my sibling. We are three in number and our needs increased everyday, we still depend on her whole-souled
Many days her food are rejected and get cold because we requested for another meal not minding how it will come about. The struggles is hard for her but she raised us successfully. Our clothes were few and wear repeatedly by all. We don't care about the gender while dressing so far as we are covered. Everyone laughed and smiled at us, but we feel like celebrities rather than being ashamed. Our ridiculers were unhappy when their balls of insults did not shake or sink us.
Schooling was a challenge. We were in government owned institutions but still be sent home because we can't still come with cheap and personal items needed for education. We later resort to hawking to buy those items for schooling. Still remember, how happy I was whenever I bought textbooks for myself and sibling. What of the examination and other fees, it was never easy for us but we are lettered and educated to know our right and communicate effectively.
Whenever we are sick, it will be like the world stop revolving. There is no money for the medical bills and no insurance whatsoever. We depend on herbs and native concoctions for treatment. Many times, the vulnerability and severity of the sickness became worse while trying to get cured. Also, it was never easy to get decent accommodation. We were stuffed in one room apartment where we shared housing services like toilet, bathroom and even kitchen with other tenant in that building. The house rent keep soaring and we owe huge debt via this.
CONCLUSION
The sacrifices of the parents towards the upbringing of their children is very huge and doubled when it is the case of the single-parenting. Many children felt unloved when they are raised in such case and look down on the effort of that one person that trained them as if it was their fault whenever they lack the essentials. To me, all I have to say, THANKS YOU MOM.
