Your Expectation Of Winning Should be Greater Than The Fear Of Losing
A lot of people are so scared of failure or losing that they take their mind off the expectations of winning. Why think of "what if you try and fail?" In life and in the world, infinite possibilities abound. It is what you expect that usually sets the precedence for what you get. If you always expect negativities to happen, then it will. But if your expectations are wrapped around possibilities and positivities, they will lead you to the right actions that will make them realities.

It is true that you may not know what the future may hold for you, but it should not stop you from hoping for the better. Each time you have hopes that something good will come out of an action, you will put in your best towards that action. Why people do not commit themselves towards giving their best is because they do not expect that their actions will deliver maximally or they are scared of failure. When preparing for an examination and you know that you can make it through, it will boost your confidence and you will study hard for it. But when you see the exam as a "mission impossible," you will not be prepared for it and it will tell in the result.
I remember when one of my friends came to tell me that there was an exam that he wrote and failed. When I asked why he failed, because he was among the most brilliant in his set, he told me that "people normally failed the exam." In fact, he went ahead to explain to me how more people pass then fail. After I heard this from him and I asked him a couple of questions, I figured out what the problem was and why he failed. He did not even approach the exam like he expected to pass it. In fact, he did not put in interest, zeal, and enthusiasm to it.
I had to advise him to see it as something doable. If he has been passing examinations all his life, why not this one? More so, if at least one person has passed the exam, why not him? All these words boosted confidence in him and he overcame the fear of failure and of the unknown. He told me that he will register again for the exam and will pass it. I agreed with him and told him to put his best into it. He registered again, studied extensively for it with high expectations of passing. On the day of the exam, he walked confidently into the hall and did justice to it. When the result came out, he did not only pass, but was among the top 5. This shows the power of expectation.
One my mentors will always say that "what you expect is exactly what you will experience." Over time, I have seen the truism in it. Your actions are primarily determined by your thoughts, and of course, expectations are creations of the mind. So if the mind controls the actions and the mind also births expectation, then by inference, expectations and actions are mutually dependent. This also means that the result from the actions will also match the expectations of the mind. If you do not want to experience a certain thing, then you do not have any reason to expect it.

It is true that you may not be able to predict as life plays out, but you should focus more on making the most out of it by expecting success instead of failure. You cannot think negativities and expect positive action nor positive result. In the same way, you cannot think positively and not act positively. What you want to experience, then make it your dominant expectations that will lead to you taking the required actions. Even if you have made an attempt and the result is not up to par with what you expected, it does not invalidate your actions, it only means you should try again maybe differently. Always have in mind that you are the one that will determine the outcome of your life by your actions.
