If the true purposes of living are not known, life becomes a mere existence. It is the meaning that you attach to living that will move life from existence to something meaningful. For everything, there is always a purpose, of which if it is not known, then abuse will become inevitable. Have you ever taken time to sit, reflect, and ask yourself what you truly live for? If you do not know what you are cut out for, you may not even know if you are fulfilling the demands of life. Here, we shall be taking a look at some of the basic things that give meaning to living.

One of the purposes of living is to live for others. A lot of people have resolved to living for "themselves, them, and theirs" alone without taking others into consideration. It is not surprising that they are willing to do many unwholesome and untold things just to get what they want without minding on whose toes they step on. At the end, what will matter? Is it the wealth you amassed or the people you have lived for? Trust me, no one will keep a good memory of you simply because you had great possessions, but they will continually remember you for your acts of humanity.

In each passing day, you will be given opportunities to affect the life of humanity positively, but it is what you do with it that will determine what you make out of life. One of the true purposes of living is when others also live because of your good actions towards them. A little smile you put on the face of someone might be what will keep them going for the day. You will be surprised how a lot of people are already passing through some challenging times and just a seemingly small acts of kindness that you show to them will make a whole lot of sense to them. This is part of what matter in life and it is among the things that make life worth living.

Another purpose that is worthwhile, and makes living worth it, is the hope of getting better and of something better happening. When you know that something good will happen for it and you hope for it, you will not give up on life today. What normally discourages people is if they lose hope in things getting better. It is true that things may not be working or going as planned, but it does not mean that tomorrow will not be better. This should give you the hopes of living, and is part of what to live for. Apart from the hopes of things getting better, you should also become better to be able to welcome what is coming.

There are things that you can handle at the moment and there are things that, even though they may look good, but you cannot handle them at the moment. This is why you need to keep on building yourself to get better with everyday. Imagine gifting a little boy of less than five years a Lamborghini who does not even know how to drive. It is something good by virtue of the worth of the gift, but it might also become catastrophic if the child tries to drive it because he does not have the capacity for it. But if the same car is gifted to someone who can drive, it will become a blessing. In the same way in life, as you are hoping for something better to happen to you, you have to also become someone better, so as to welcome it. Of course, you cannot put a newly-brewed wine inside an old worn-out wine sac.

In the quest for the discovery of the purpose of living, you have to also know that happiness also matters to living. Not just personal happiness but also making other happy too. If you have ever been in a state of unhappiness, you will discover that a lot things will actually look unpleasant to you. But with happiness, you will not even need too much to go through life. Adorably, everyone can create their own happiness and it does not cost much to do that. As a matter of fact, a lot of the good things of life, of which happiness is part of, are actually free. You do not have to wait until someone makes you happy before you become happy. Right from where you are and with what you have, mixed with contentment, you can be happy. This is what makes life worth living.
