A lot of people may not know that there is no idle word and that every word spoken has consequences and effects attached to it. The words of your mouth are not as harmless as you may think and they are indelible once spoken. You have to know that words can make someone, but on the other hand they can mar someone if spoken wrongly. This is why you have to seek for ways to encourage and motivate someone with your words and not destroy them.

A few days back, I watched a documentary of a science experiment that was done in relation to the words we speak. The person that conducted the experiment explained that he got three viable seeds and three containers with fertile sand in them. He planted container A and kept it in a place which is good for germination and growth, and same with the two other containers labeled B and C respectively. Each morning, he would speak some good words to the plant in container A for a few minutes. Then he would go to container B and speak really bad words to it for a few minutes. Then container C was the control plant to prove the viability of the seeds. And he also maintained the best farm practices for the 3 of the plants.

He discovered that after a few days, the container A that constantly received good words started germinating - it started earlier than the two others, then followed by the control plant and then the container that was constantly spoken bad of joined very later. In the long run, it was noticed that the container A (that was spoken good of) grew excellently well and even beyond his expectation. Then the control plant did as expected. But the plant in container B did so badly that it never grew beyond certain limit. It was at this point that he realized that the only difference in the three plants is just the word spoken. By his inference, words matter to life.

The things we say may look light, but the effects carry more weight than we can imagine. There are some people that if they get angry, they can say anything and after everything, they will regret them but the words were already gone out. This is why if you are angry, you have to be cautious about what you speak. The truth is that there are things that you say now that will come back later to haunt you, so be cautious. You have to let your brain come first before you words. That is, have a thought of what to say before you say it. Most times you may not remember what you have said to someone, but the person you have said it to may remember it for long.

When you say something, it will have effect on the way you think, and this will ultimately influence your actions. Of course, your actions will give rise to how your life will result into. This is why I believe that words do not just communicate information or knowledge, they also influence one's thoughts and actions, they change one's perception, and can even trigger emotions. Times may affect many things about life, but there is one of the very few things that are timeless and not bound by the passage of time - they are words. The effects of words can remain potent for a very long time.

I once read about one of the greatest crusaders of the ancient time; Martin Luther King jr. His activism started with just four words "I have a dream" and it triggered one of the greatest movements ever witnessed by humanity, just because of words of motivation from him. Fast-forward to a few years back, Barack Obama also made a motivational speech and ended with the words "Yes we can" and it also created a massive shift in the political landscape of the United States that what had never happened before became possible. This goes to prove that your words can either set the pace for a positive occurrence or a negative occurrence.

Before you speak, if you will take time to examine the potential outcome of what you want to say, you will know if it will be worth it or not. In addition, also ask yourself how the words will be received by the person that is talked to. All these will assist you in saying the right thing at the right time.

Peace on y'all
