I remember when I was learning how to play drums when I joined the choir newly. At first, it seemed like it was a very difficult task but as I practised over and again, it became easier and easier, and before long, I gained mastery over it. This was as a result of constant practice, which can be seen as consistency. I have realized one thing in life; whatever you do repeatedly, it tends to become part of you and you will figure out other ways to get it done with ease. This is the power of consistency.

The door of success has many keys to unlock it and one of them is consistency. A lot of successful people that you see today did not start big; some started small and through continuous efforts and actions, they got to the top echelon. It does not matter the pace at which you are going, as long as you are taking continuous step, then you are making progress. When you are steadfast in what you are going, then growth is bound to happen. Of course, you will agree with me that growth does not happen overnight, rather it comes as a result of taking continuous steps over time. Even when the steps appear difficult, it should not stop you from taking them nonetheless.
Now one may ask what consistency entails: simply put, it is the commitment you put into what you have set your mind to do, without a recourse to what may want to distract or discourage you. That is; it is being dedicated to a particular course and proving it by taking continuous steps towards achieving it. Success does not come by doing nothing, neither does it come because you think you deserve it, but it comes when you have taken relevant actions and keep taking them over time. When you try out a thing consistently, you are naturally bound to master it.
Take when you are learning how to drive for example; I am sure you saw it as something very difficult. Of course, at that moment, it appeared so, but after putting in constant efforts and kept learning, it became simple. Now you can multitask while driving without even feeling that you are driving. It has become more or less a "conditioned reflex" to you. This same thing also happens when you are making attempts towards other things. However, one thing to know is that you have to be consistent in only what you want to gain perfection in. Remember:
Practice makes one perfect.
Of course, when you practise rightly, you will gain perfect in the right thing. On the same hand, if you practise the wrong thing over and again, you will also gain mastery in the wrong things. What you constantly do tends to become a habit for you and this habit will also determine how your character will be shaped. What you will not want to be perfect in, it is pointless practising it. You may not notice it but subconsciously, you tend to grow affinity for what you constantly do. If you start making use of your left hand constantly, you will begin to favour your left hand over the right and you will become left-handed. This is how consistency works.
One benefit you derive from being consistent is that it makes you more resilient and of course, you tend to grow in discipline. I remember when a friend told me that he wanted to build some muscles, I looked at him and told him you can. He started by doing press-up, sit-up and planks everyday. He mapped out his routine and how many rounds he will do a day. As the days go by, he increased it and even added weightlifting to it. In less than 8 months of being consistent, he achieved his desired body. If he had not been dedicated to that particular course, he would not have achieved it. The power of consistency.

The pathway to success may not be smooth and may not be quick, this is why it requires your unwavering dedication and consistency. Just like evolution, growth, adaptation, etc, take time, many of the good things of life will also require you to be consistent over time for it to be delivered. Even in business, you cannot start today and expect to get to the top of business overnight, you have to give it time and patience. But one thing to know is that as you keep going towards your destination, it will not be long and you will arrive at it. Note this:
Even though the journey of many miles will begin with a step, it still needs continuous steps to arrive at the destination.
