Knowledge is very dynamic and the more we live and interact with people, the more things we learn and know. Everyone and anyone that comes around you has at least something to teach you. This is why, as bad as someone or something can be, they are not completely useless. Even a seemingly bad situation can teach great lessons to make someone better in the future - that is the beauty of knowledge.

As every other thing is evolving, so also is knowledge. The particular knowledge that you used to solve the problems of yesterday may be too old-fashioned to solve today's problem. This is why you should constantly seek to upgrade and update yourself. Imagine if someone only knows how to operate the manual typewriter, how will the person cope in this era of advanced computational technologies?
Your relevance is only a function of the level of knowledge you possess. When your level of knowledge does not match with the current problem at hand or is not up to par with the current trend, then you may begin to lose relevance. People may be born equal but knowledge will differentiate them in the long run. The world will always tilt towards the direction of the person with enough knowledge to proffer solutions to the problems of humanity.
Gaining knowledge is a personal responsibility and it is your absolute prerogative. Someone else's knowledge may not save you when the need arises for you to apply the knowledge. This is why knowledge is only acquired and not inherited. That your parents are professors does not means you are automatically a professor. You have to take the responsibility to acquire your own knowledge.
The time you feel the need not to acquire more knowledge is the time you need the knowledge the most. Obviously, the more you acquire new knowledge or grow in your existing knowledge, the more you discover that you have known very small all these while. No one is the possessor of the 100% knowledge in the world, not even you. So keep yourself in check and go after more knowledge.

Most times, knowledge has timeframe within which it is valid. Having the mind that knowledge can expire will make you not to glory over your past knowledge and go for more. When people with better ideas and knowledge arise, your past knowledge will become obsolete. So do not stop the quest to know more. Because we only learn new things by learning.
