When you want to climb a staircase for example, you will not just jump from down to up, you will climb the steps in a repeated manner to get to the top. That is, taking a continuous step until you arrive at the top. The individual steps may look little, but the cumulative of all of them is what will guarantee you a place at the top. In the same way in life, the seemingly little steps you take in life are what will ultimately lead you to achieving your desired goal. This reminds me of a what a friend normally says:

Your little steps are better than no step.

A few months back, I experienced something that showed me the power of tiny continuous drops. The overhead water tank we used to collect water during the rainy season started to drop water from under. At first, it was negligible, but by the morning, we discovered that the ground was already wet. Well, we thought, maybe it's not from the tank because we thought that the drops were too little to create such effects. But later, we discovered that water normally finishes from the tank earlier than expected. But again, we thought that our water consumption has increased and it may be the reason. We never thought that the cause could be linked to those tiny drops.

It continued for a few more days and one day, I decided to place a big bowl under the spot were the water was dropping and left it there overnight. To my surprise, but the next morning, the bowl was already full and overflowing. It was at that point that I realized that those drops may look small, but the cumulative of them meant so much. I had to look for something to patch it up. After the experience, I realized that the small steps people often overlook in life may be the steps that hold the key to their breakthrough. As long as you keep taking such steps, then you are making progress and you will soon achieve your desired goal.

If you want to travel to a destination for example, no matter how far it may look like, you will still need to take the first step and then continue putting in other steps and before you know it, you will be face-to-face with your destination. You may not arrive at your dream with just the first attempt, but keep making other attempts. The truth is that with each attempt, you are constantly making progress towards your goal. Of course, it is better than not taking any step at all. Many of the people that have made considerable impact in life did not start from the top, many of them started small and through continuous actions, they were able to achieve greatness.

It is worthy to note that it is better to take the small step rightly and promptly, instead of waiting for the opportunity to take a giant stride, which may not even come. Even if it eventually comes, by the time you take the giant stride, you will discover that you would have made more impact if you had been taking the continuous small steps. You should not be waiting in futility for a perfect time or perfect condition to "start big." Start from where you are, from the seemingly small step, and with what you have, then keep putting in your best and you will be surprised at the outcome.

More often than not, consistency is a major contributor to success. No one achieves perfection by doing something just once. There must be a conscious and continous attempts towards that thing. You will agree with me that when you were learning how to drive, it was not a one-day affair. You started from somewhere and kept at it. Sometimes you may even look at the gear to change it - you continued practising and learning. After a few practice of driving, it became part of you and is now a conditioned reflex for you. You can even be driving and multitasking with others things, but it was not so at the beginning. This goes to prove that no step you take towards your dream is actually a waste.

When you have a plan of what to achieve, or a dream of what to become, you have to understand that it will not fulfil itself. You are the one that needs to put in the required action and then continue with such actions until you attain your dream. Always have in mind that the step that will take you to your destination is not a "once-and-for-all" step but a "once-and-again" step.
