It may be very difficult for anything (or anyone) to take away what is inside you and your inner abilities. What they may do is to make it look like it has lost value or lost importance in your sight, so that you will not appreciate it again.

If you do not place value on what you have within you, how do you expect to draw benefits from it? Deep down within, everyone has immense abilities and limitless potentials, but the level of benefit that you can draw from them is directly proportional to the level of value you have placed in them.
Let me give you a practical example: When you buy a product for $100 and a similar product for $10, irrespective of the qualities (even if they have the same quality) believe me, your attention and value will be be shifted to the one that you bought for $100 and thereby maximizing the full potential of the product. In the same way, for you to unleash your true potential, you must first appreciate and value what you have which is resident within you.
If you think less of your inner abilities, others will also think similar about you. Remember this, however you have considered yourself is how others will consider you too. A popular Igbo (South-Eastern Nigerian) proverb explains this.
Onye jiri nkata ya were kpoo afifia, onye ozo ga ejikwa ya were kpoo afifia. - Nigerian Proverb.
This simply translates to: however you treat what belongs to you is exactly how other people will treat it too. If you devalue it, others will do the same. If you place value on it, others will also place value on it.
No matter what happens or comes your way, always try not to belittle or place less value on yourself. It is just a matter of time and your true value will speak for itself.
