Everyday we live, we learn something new - this learning can either be through the right way (from other people's experience) or through the hard way (from your own experience) but the truth is, learning is continuous. No matter how bad or cruel a situation was, if you learnt something new from it, then it was not entirely bad in the first place.

What we learn from the past, if applied to the present, is what will help us to get ready for what the future holds. There is no one as frustrated as the person that lives his life on "trial and error" basis without hinging on past experiences to make himself better.
Everyone that comes your way and every situation you find yourself in should be looked upon as an avenue to acquire new knowledge and new experiences. This is why you should not conclude anyone as useless.
Acquiring knowledge is synonymous to living, and someone starts to die without even realizing it when they stop acquiring new knowledge. No matter how old or young you may be, your level of knowledge defines your maturity and not your age.
Like you may have already known, maturity is not related to age, neither is it a function of your background, but it is a direct function of the comparative experiences you have acquired. This is the reason a teenager might act more maturely that an elder; just to prove to you that knowledge is superior to age.
If you lack knowledge in a particular field and you know that you lack knowledge, then you are a step closer to acquiring the knowledge. But when you have no idea that you lack the knowledge, then you are way far from redemption.
When acquiring knowledge, do not be beclouded by age and status. Someone far younger than you may hold the key to the knowledge you seek, you just need to go for it without feeling shy - remember this, no one has an absolute and infinite knowledge.
