As this year is gradually coming to a wrap, plans should be underway to create the kind of new year that you desire. Trust me, if you do not do something different next year from what you did this year, you will experience what you did this year. So in order to make the coming year as desired, you have to do things differently and among it is to invest in yourself. There is no Investment that you make on yourself that goes into wastage. Investing in oneself does not mean money only but their are other aspects which we shall be looking at.

The first way you have to invest in yourself is your mind. An empty mind means an empty life, and by extension, an empty pocket. So to achieve anything worthwhile in the coming year, you have to first focus on building up your mind. What happens to your life is an extension of what happens in the mind. This is why I have believed that what ultimately becomes of anyone has its root in the person's mind. You have to positively build up your mind to create the kind of change that you want. There are many ways to invest in one's mind and they include, but not limited to; having intelligent conversations that sharpen the mind, meditation to clear the mind, reading books and other materials, etc.

What I believe is that each time you open up a book, the book opens your mind up to new possibilities. As long as you live, you have to understand that learning is a very crucial and integral part of life. Someone that knows and Someone that keeps learning will always be ahead of those who do not learn. So in order to stay afloat in this world that is highly competitive, you have to strive to know more. Good a thing, this era has made information acquisition very easy and simplified. With just a couple of clicks, right in your Internet-enabled device, you can get access to information you can never imagine. So in the coming year, you have to be conscious and intentional about investing in your mind.

The next place to invest in is your health. It makes no sense sacrificing your health to get wealth and at the end of the day, using the same wealth to service your deteriorated health. Investing in your health includes eating good meal, undergoing daily routine exercise, proper checkup, avoid substance abuse, resting, etc. The area of resting should be buttressed because a lot of people have devoted their time in the pursuit of their dreams that they have little to no time to rest. Rest is among the things that a lot of people overlook, but it occupies a pivotal position in maintaining one's health.

Still on investing in your health, you have to also watch what you eat. Sadly, some people eat wrongly in the name of saving cost and then end up spending more than they have saved to treat their ill health. You have to take special consideration about what you eat, like; avoid or limit processed food, eat fruits and healthy vegetables, observe balanced meal, eat at the right time, etc. You have to know that good health is also part of wealth, so do not sacrifice your health for things that cannot keep you healthy.

The next investment you will make is in strategic relationships. You have to understand that you cannot stand alone and achieve something worthwhile, you will always need people. You have to be conscious about the kind of people that you will relate with so that you can make the most out of life. Your relationship can be a source of inspiration for you to achieve greatness, so choose the right company. However, to get the right company, you too must also be a right company. Of course, who you are will determine who you attract.

The last investment to make is in acquiring new skills. Make it a point of duty to update on your existing skills or acquire new ones in the coming year. Let there be something new that you will acquire in terms of skill. Surprising, it may be the skills that you acquire as a side hustle that may become your main source of income in the future, so do not joke with any skill. Always remember that it is the investment you make on yourself that will determine your self-worth, which will also determine your net-worth.
