Hello everyone!
Gosh, it’s been a while! My mind is blank. Unfortunately, I might have stopped writing but I haven’t stopped illustrating or drawing. It’s my passion. Now I have a lot of them to write about. Sigh! A lot! Alright, let’s start with this one.
The one-colored toned illustration. I believe that is where I left off. Oh! Guys, I am so sorry! How are guys doing? I hope everything is well on your side. That is all I can hope for. Now let’s begin! This illustration was done in Autodesk. Now I want you guys to guess which is the main color of this art.
I did a rough brush swipe off using my favorite tool so far ‘color builder’. Yes, this baby gives me the right touches on my art as I want it. As you guys can see I drew hills and we all know that ground isn’t smooth like a straight line. It is uneven and has a bit of curve and bents.
Next, I made a noon view look. To do this make sure this layer is below all the layers so that it stays behind and use the paint bucket. Now I don’t know much about other digital illustration apps but from all the digital illustration apps used so far (the free ones), I go back to Autodesk. The paint bucket is one of the biggest reasons I go back. You see Autodesk has three ways you can use it in paint bucket. One is the complete one-colored paint then there is sideway paint in which you can add as much color as you want and the other one is centered paint in which again you can add as much color as you want. Here is the best part, I don’t need to blend them. So here I used the centered paint bucket. It makes a beautiful shade altogether. Now the choices of color are up to you how you want to represent. Mine here was a noon view look so I use those colors.
Now here are the setbacks in Autodesk. The limit in tools and working them out some way or other. I use normally use synthetic taper or synthetic round bristle tools for a grass look but sometimes they don’t work out on different shades or colors. You see over here I did try using these tools but it wasn’t given enough coverage. Like the density or the smudged effect, both weren’t giving the grass effect. It’s like the density is too much and the smudge effect is too small or the density of the color is too little and the smudge is too much. So I had to switch to something else. Now this part was a pain. When I mean pain, I mean painstaking, neck aching, eye bulging, headache-like pain. Sigh! But I am stubborn and I will do it one way or another. So here is what I did, I first used the color builder tool, then used the soft eraser tool to erase or lighten the color as much as I want, and then used the hair blending tool. Yes, the tool's name is hair. Just hair. Hey, I don’t care about the name as long as it gives me the thing that I want. After that, I duplicated that layer a lot and resized and changed colors. Yes, I used that trick because one batch was exhausting enough and I am not doing the again.
Next was pretty easy, make a big fat log or block using the color builder tool and salty watercolor tool for the leaves. Using different shades helps you to give the tree leaves a nice look and a little bit of detail to the log. Then add the shadow of the tree on the ground.
Now I know I could it here but that would be boring. Let’s add more things. Be a little bit extra. Hehe! Yeah, so I made a small house in the corner using the color builder.
A little more details, like the sheep and a barrier so they don’t run off. We should add someone to look after them.
There! Oh, also I added some butterflies too. It makes it look prettier. Now that’s the end of today’s illustration. I hope to see you guys again in the next illustration. Bye-bye! Take care. Have a wonderful day!
