Hey dear Hive family so this time i was digitally drawing sceneries and using just textured brushes .
So here is a sunset study i did Basically the picture was i saw was on pinterest and i saw that and intantly wanted to draw that in my own style.
The app im using is ibis paint and the brushes i use are from the pastel section give in the app .
So first of all lets put a layer with a base color because we want a color that we can work on . This is crucial because if i just use the brush without a base it kinda has transparency issues later . So here im using the paint bucket tool and took a deep orange kinda yellow color and painted the base layer .
Next im gonna use the pastel marker brush and select black color. With that i made a window like negative space and the rest is like how dark the room looks when the only light source is from the window so yes . This is the second layer which i worked on .
The 3rd layer is positioned over the base layer and under the window layer . Here
we use the pastel brush and we paint lil transition so we are gonna use our brush and first select a shade lighter than the base and paint the top window part slightly then select a tone lighter and use that over the top leaving the Older brush strokes there . Just like building a Sky gradient but gradually .
I used 4 shades here from darkest at the bottom to the top gradient bekng the lightest yellow .
Just like we built the sky gradient now we will be making a forth layer with is over the base layer and the sky gradient layer but under the window layer .
Here we will be using the same brush but chanhe the sizes smallest for the back transistioning to a bigger size brush setting forthe front .
Here we will draw mountains ,a little tip is that use lighter colder tones of yellow for the furthest mountain and the darkest warm color for the front . We must first color the furthest mountains then layer the front ones again using 3-4 different colors and here is how the painting looks so far .
Now lets add more silhouted elements on the top of the window layer we will draw a little wooden frame design because the windows usually have that kinda architectural design . I will be using the same pastel marker brush to make this and same black color to but this is the 5th layer on top of the window layer .
Lets also add a bird in the scene so here im using the black color we dont need to make eaxh small detail because we want it to be abstract and observable . This little bird in the scene has added more depth to the painting .
Now lets add some highlights from the widow to the windows side frames . Because the light reflects to some parts of the windows and for that i made a layer on top of the 5th layer now i will use dark brown and light brown almost golden orange color to just highlight these corners . The light on the left corner is lighter than the right side .
we also will make sure the edges are erased and it doesn't look bloched .
Just like the bird we will be adding a little girl Staring outside Becaus this is like an element we see in front we must look at the details for this one .
Lets start with a silhoute base i used the same brush as eraser too and i will keep on making a human like shape then erase some parts then use the brush and add small things like braid silhoute ,the dress , The face side view and the hair silhoutte . (Again the rule is to not get carried away and keep on working your way to just make sure the shadow can show some things . remember we wanna show off everything more with use of negative space and how the light reflects .)
Now that we have our fully done shadow silhoute of the girl
Just like the light was reflecting on the wooden window frame same way it will be shown as highlights on the girl but not just one color . The colors will be transistioning from lightest on her face to datker oranges on her hand and clothes and just the front, slight subtle details like this will make it all pop .
So as u can see i highlighted her face but left the hair bangs part but added a lil shine to her hair , the face and neck highlights are different slightly in color while the dress highlight is more into reds and then the arm is a lighter lime highlight.
