Hello everyone! How is everyone doing? And, to all my Muslim friends, how is your Ramadan going?
I hope everyone is doing great. Today I am about to write on the topic given by @bdc-shorts and the topic is "Your favourite book(s) from childhood". Well everyone has a favorite book in their childhood whether they are a bookworm or not and, of course, if you are an English medium student, you must have an English storybook which is given by the school to improve your English at a very young age.
Due to that, I didn’t like reading books because it was a task I must do, including the picture storybooks. I hated reading but I loved art and craft. I still do. I remember using the picture storybook as a reference to draw in my copies, sometimes to draw on it, or cutting off the pictures from the storybooks just so I could use them as stickers, and as a consequence, I would get my ass whipped by my mom for destroying the books.
As I grew up going from kg to class 1 and so on, different types of storybooks would be given to us for spelling and dictation. Until I don’t know which class but there was this one certain book that caught my interest and I didn’t wait for the classes to complete the storybook. I completed reading that storybook within one night. The book’s name was 'George’s Marvelous Medicine' written by Roald Dahl. I loved that storybook. Adding to that 'Matilda' by Roald Dahl was another amazing experience of mine. These books were treasures to me, one which caught my attention and now I am into books too. At least, I read.
Those books gave me the taste of reading. There was also my other favorite book called Goosebumps. It had many series and I was obsessed with reading all of them. That is when I stepped into the world of horror and trust me I love it! I remember nights after nights how I spent reading Goosebumps while hugging my teddy. I never used to get scared, but the thought of it all happening to me right then is something that used to cause an adrenaline rush. I literally used to have goosebumps all over my body at times.
Now, as a grown up I do prefer vampire stories, horror stories, and obviously fantasy. I have also diversified my interest and I love mage fiction too. Even back then buying storybooks or novels wasn't a thing but I had the privilege to borrow them from my school library. Later, after I completed school it was hard to get my touch with books and not having internet kept me away from books for quite a while. However, I do recall collecting ample books from my friend who happened to have a limited internet speed but did have a collection of books in the pdf version. For me during my miseries, hiding under my blanket and reading horror stories relaxed both my body and soul. Yes, I often got back to art but books were my friend too. Even now I am into reading and I read mangas and comics.
So that’s it. These were my favorite storybooks from my childhood. I hope you guys enjoyed reading this. And if you guys are interested, you might as well check out these books. I know that @tahminasyed, you weren't a bookworm EVER but it would be fun if you join too. You can write about Cinderella 😉 if you know what I mean 😉.
Thank you guys and see you in the next post. Bye-bye.
