I pretty much love books in general, but fiction is my favorite. Although I do enjoy a good biography and a well wtitten young adult book can capture my attention.
The is always room on my book shelf for reference books.
This book was fearured on the shelf at the Barnes and Noble bookstore and I decided a photo of the cover was good way to begin a Hive post!
Buzz: The Nature and Necessity of Bees is a popular science book written by conservation biologist Thor Hanson (published in 2018).
The description of the book says it blends accessible natural science with field anecdotes, personal stories with the authors young son, and interviews with leading melittologists (bee scientists).
Manga refers to comic books and graphic novels originating in Japan. Unlike standard Western comics, traditional manga covers a wide range of genres tailored to diverse demographics, featuring distinct art styles, expressive character designs, and cinematic panel layouts.
I've glanced at books in this section but have to admit that I have never read one. I get the feeling they are aimed at a young audience. What are your thoughts?
Manga is read from right to left and top to bottom, which is the traditional layout for Japanese print. When reading an English translation:
You open the book at what Western readers would consider the "back cover".
You read the panels and speech bubbles starting from the top-right corner, moving across to the left, then stepping down to the next row.
I find this section of the bookstore really tempting. I love putting together challenging puzzles but have not had time to put one together recently. I resist buying anything new since I have two that I was given as gifts that I can begin when I find some time!
