This weekend is this area's annual Oktoberfest celebration Usually, I attend. This year, however, thanks to work, I decided to skip it and celebrate in a more subtle fashion by grilling a couple o bratwursts and veggie kabobs on the grill. And with it, I shared my comfort beer: New Glarus Moon Man.
It's easy and delicious. A true "no coast" pale ale that is by far my favorite comfort food. Do you know what else happens to be my comfort food? Bratwursts...I love bratwursts.
As the festivities raged at the fest grounds, I snuck out and bought six Wisco brats and 3 jalapeno cheese brats. After firing up the charcoal, away I went.
I managed to know a few Moon Mans down as I reflected on the past two weeks. Fortunately, the backyard was my fortress of solitude...and I took a few more minutes to let the grill "warm up" so that I could get another Moon Man in. Call it a bit of a "Wisconsin sand bag." Yum, on both accounts!
Long story short, it turned out to be the perfect Oktoberfest weekend. No crowds or lines; no overpriced food or beer...just our backyard.
