In the year 2022 I visited one of the historical interest. It was Ahsan Manzil near Sadar Ghat in Old Dhaka. I with my cousins decided to visit historical places in our country. We decided to start our tour from nearset one. So we chose Ahsan Manzil.
We went to the Old Dhaka bank of the river Buriganga and bought our entry tickets. There was some boards, writing about the history of Ahsan Manzil. It was built in19th century by The Nawab Family of Old Dhaka. Dhaka was called Decca by the british ruler.Beforw Ahsan Manzil there was a recreation centre called Rang Mahal. That was used as a commercial centre by The French. Nawab Khaja Alimullah bought that and repair as a living house for him. After a long time his son Nawab Abdul Goni rebuilt it and named after his son Nawab Khaja Ahsan Ullah.
The beauty of Ahsan Manzil is very attractive for its architectural forms. There is a dome at the top of the middle of the building. There is a large and long Staircase from ground to second floor infront of the building.The main architectural beauty blooms here. We saw The Buriganga river from the staircase. We sat on the Staircase and took group photos.
Ahsan Manzil is used as a Museum. Many valuable and historical things used by Nawabs and their familes here. We saw historically designed beds, tables, water pots, ornaments and many other things. There were some paintings of Nawabs and their families. There was a big room where kept the dining table and dinner sets. There was a billiard room where Nawabs and played in their pastime. There were some medical and surgical instruments in a room. There we saw some inscriptions carved on the stone. We saw the ancient coins of diffrent historical periods.
There was a floor specially for the Nawabs and their guest's recreation with performance by the beautiful lady dancers called 'Baiji'. Photography was restricted in the museum so we could not take any photo there. We took photo only of the out side. There were also some tourists. We had lot of fun and enjoy. We enjoyed the traditional food of Old Dhaka, 'Biriyani'.
By the way 'Dhaka University' the best public university of Bangladesh was started with the initiative of Nawab Sir Salimullah son of Nawab Ahsan Ullah with the help of than British Government. He Donated huge land for building Dhaka University.
