Sundarban, the Largest Mangrove: In Search of Wildlife and Fresh Air.

Hello! Sundarban is the largest mangrove forest and this year I visited the Sundarban. 40% of this is in India and 60% of this is in Bangladesh. It was an official tour. I learned about Sundarban in school but never got the chance to visit there. So I felt so excited. We were more than 30 members. It was a tour of three days. Most of the time we were in a mini ship.

As the Sundarban is a combined forest of land and water we had to visit in Sundarban by ship. The main points we visited were Hiron point, Andharmanik, Karamjol, Kotka beach, Dublar chor and the small rivers spread like a net. A tourist guide and a coast guard member with legal arms along with us visited there. The Sundarban is famous for The Royal Bengal Tiger. But it is not good luck to meet a tiger. Tigers have mostly seen in the Hiron point most. We couldn’t meet with tiger.

There are about 125 tigers in the part of Bangladesh. There are also deers, monkeys, snakes and many other wildlife animals. We went to the deep of the forest by engine boat which was tied with the ship. We saw two crocodiles were taking rest in the sunshine. White heron was flying over our head. It was winter and the nature was calm. We enjoyed the forest both sides of the river. The main tree of Sundarban is Sundori. Beside this Kewra, Goran, Golpata trees are also found there. Golpata is very useful to the people who lives in Sundarban. They make their hut with Golpata. The unique quality of the mangrove forest is breath root. As the soil and water is salty trees can't take oxygen from soil.

Breath root helps the trees to take oxygen. Sundarban is full of natural wealth. Honey is the best wealth of Sundarban and it is the most demandable food in Bangladesh. There are more than ten thousand people who lives in Sundarban who earn their livelihood from Sundarban. Their main job is fishing and collecting honey. The natural beauty of Sundarban faded away because of illigal hunters of wildlife specially spotted deers here called 'Chitra Horin' and tigers. Sundarban is called the Amazon of South Asia. It helps us to reduce the effect of storm comes from Bay of Bengal. The beauty of Sundarban gradually diminishing due to tree smuggler, poacher and tourists.

So sustainable tourism should be started in Bangladesh. The monitoring against tree smuggler and Wild animal poacher's should be strengthened.
