En mi ciudad Barcelona, hay una academia de pintura con el nombre de Armando Reverón, creo que allí fue de la primera vez que escuche su nombre, estaba al lado de una cancha deportiva donde mi colegio fue a un encuentro de voleibol.
Al terminar el encuentro deportivo, me acerque a ver a los jóvenes artistas mientras realizaban sus obras. Allí un profesor colocaba unos artículos en el centro de mesa para ser dibujados por los estudiantes. Captar las formas, delinear las botellas, ver la sombra de la manzana, atrapar los detalles en claro oscuro y al carboncillo.
Siendo objetos comunes para todos, cada uno observaba detalles en diferentes texturas, ese es el ojo del artista.
Allí me entro el gusanillo por pintar, pero no tenía quién me llevará a la academia.
Más adelante volvería a tener la oportunidad de aprender en sus espacios las técnicas básicas.
También me recuerda esa canción de Alí Primera: Reverón Titiritero, cuando el autor nos cuenta esa etapa del artista llamándolo pintor de pueblo y elaborando sus muñecas de trapo con las que divertía a los niños. Algunos lo llamaban el loco del castillete.
