My heart was heavy and so was my head. I wanted to feel at peace again but I was far from that.

“Julian,” I heard Matt call my name and I instantly got up, taking two steps backward.
“Leave me be!” I yelled and he stretched his hands out in front of me, signifying for me to calm down.
“I promise, I won’t hurt you.”
“You said that when we first met but you turned out to have fangs and claws!” I half-yelled and he let out a deep breath before resting his hands on his waist.
“But I won’t hurt you,” he said in a soft tone, moving closer to me.
The dark sky seemed to brighten as the fear of him getting closer to me flashed like lightning in my eyes.
“Please, don’t come closer!” I pleaded and that only broke his heart. I could see that in his eyes.
I tried to move backwards but my legs failed me as my heartbeat raced faster. Matt didn't stop taking small steps towards me while I froze in my stance.
“Please,” I pleaded again, my voice trailing off in a soft sob.
“I won’t hurt you, Julian,” he said as he pulled me into his arms, holding me tight in his embrace and placing countless kisses on my forehead.
“I promise, I won’t hurt you, baby,” he stroked my hair and patted my back, kissing me all at once and whispering the words in my ear as I sobbed on his chest.
“I promise I won’t hurt you, Julian,” he repeated.
I wish I could believe him but the sight before me a few minutes ago caught me by the throat. I could get my blood rushing through my veins and a cold sweat forming on my forehead. I could feel my body shiver and my throat dry.
My boyfriend was a werewolf.
Watching him shift form from being a full-grown human to a werewolf, an animal scared the hell out of me. I wish I remained ignorant just like I have been for the past two years that we’ve been together. I wish I never knew. I wish I only saw him as Matt Dew, a college student that I only knew. I wish I hadn't seen that. I wish Matt was not a werewolf!
“But… how… what…” I tried to form the words but none came forth.
“Look at me,” he said in a masculine voice as he pulled me out of the hug and raised my face to look up at his, cupping my cheeks in his palm. “I have been working on myself. I have been searching and looking for ways to end this, to change from being this. I do not love myself this way, Julian. We can work through this together. Don’t leave me, baby. We can do this. We can fight through this… together,” his voice faded off in a soft cry and his hands dropped to his sides from my cheeks and tears rolled down his cheeks.
I wished I could console him. I wished I could tell him he had no reason to cry but my lips just quivered and no words slipped out of them.
I stared up at his face with my tear-stained face and slowly, I raised my hand to wipe the tears off his face while my face was still soaked from my tears.
“I don’t know, Matt.”
He held my elbows and stared intensely at me.
“You don’t have to do anything, Julian. Just be with me while I walk through this transitioning moment. You don’t have to do a thing, baby. Not a single thing!”
My mind trailed off in a deep thought as I tried to decide if this was truly what I wanted. If it was truly what I could cope with.
I looked up at the dark sky and out of nowhere, a cold breeze hit our faces as though the air had been frozen before now. I stared at the moon and the stars that formed as a ring around it.
I let out a deep sigh before looking back at Matt who anticipated my response.
“Say something to me, Julian. I need words from you,” he said and I sighed again before looking back up at the sky.
This time, I was staring deeply at the stars, making sure nothing took my focus even though Matt was squeezing my hands gently.
I slowly shut my eyes as I made a wish under the stars and then opened them and looked back at Matt.
“I would stay with you, baby. You can do this. No! We can do this!”
A broad smile played on his lips as he claimed my lips.
After we pulled out of the kiss, he asked me. “What was your wish?”
“I wish that we grow old together,” I said with a broad smile and he hugged me even tighter.
