ENGLISH:
Hello everyone! I'm new to posting here, i recently joined Hive and when i realized that there is a community dedicated to "pets" i didn't hesitate for a second to join. I am a faithful lover and protector of animals, i have had many pets of all kinds and i also enjoy seeing the photos that others share of theirs, i think it is a beautiful space that is worth reviewing from time to time to brighten your day. Now, without any further words to add, i present to you my dear Chester the "Destroyer".
The Meeting:
Chester is a squirrel and as the title says, he is a "Destroyer" and I think the word is too small for him (I'll talk about this later). He came into my life in the most unexpected way, one day I was simply with my family walking through "The Estancia" (Altamira - Miranda) hanging out and enjoying a bit of nature, just at the moment we decided to leave, already at the exit, My father touches his pockets and realizes that he doesn't have the car keys, so we quickly decided to go back to where we had been walking with the intention of checking if the keys had fallen out there and just in that search we find the little Chester. It was a baby in a ball in the grass, it looked a little hurt, it even had some blood in its mouth, we had deduced that it fell from the tree, that was a crucial moment to decide what to do, since the Estancia was being closing at that time. , there was very little time we had to decide whether to leave him to his fate while he was injured or to take him with the intention of curing him and then returning him to nature, and you can imagine what was the decision we made.
It's been about 2 and a half years since that moment, having Chester at home the first few days made us instantly fall in love with him, with each passing day the plan to return him to his habitat faded more and more. Nobody in the house knew about squirrels, literally, from the first moment with us our only task was to soak up knowledge about squirrels, reading everything we could on the Internet and watching videos on YouTube. Until today we have been able to give Chester a healthy life, thanks to all the information we found and thanks to the experience of other people, it felt like having a month-old baby at home with so much care he needs, a baby squirrel eat every 2 hours. (So that you keep it in mind if you decide to help some)
驴How is Chester?:
As for Chester himself, he is quite tremendous, restless, he has INEXHAUSTABLE energy!!!, he is always alert, very territorial, he loves to play and be on top of me all day, he loves to fight with my hands, extremely curious ( If you think cats are curious it's because you don't know a squirrel), he is fascinated by height, he can reach any part of the house he wants, he loves to take long jumps and play hide and seek.
Feeding:
As for his diet, he is quite healthy, his diet is composed of all types of fruits, seeds, nuts, peanuts, hazelnuts, etc.; He also loves ice cream, compote, popcorn, cookies (especially those with cream) and is even capable of stealing what you are eating if you are careless.
The Reason For Its Title "The Destroyer":
Not everything is perfect, Chester would be the perfect pet since there are too many points in his favor, he is small, he does not get in the way, he does not make noise, his presence is almost imperceptible, his pee is almost drops of water without smell, his feces are balls that can be easily swept up, and wherever he is he decorates the environment, but all this falls apart due to his attitude, there is too much evil compressed into him, like a rodent finally needs to gnaw and it has been a difficult problem because it wants to bite everything, we have to be constantly vigilant with it, it has destroyed many things, among which i highlight my tablet, my phone, my smartwatch, the keyboard with which i am writing this post, and many wooden things here in the house, he is a complete potential terrorist, hence his title of "The Destroyer" that he honors with pride.
Not Everything is Happiness:
We get attached to him, we love him and we try to give him the happiest life we can, he is not locked in a cage since I have never liked closed animals, several hours a day we leave him free around the house (with our eyes on him 馃憖) and when not, he is in a bathroom completely just for him (yes, we had to disable a bathroom in the house for him to live there) where he has his "burrow" and space to move around. I would like to see him free in nature to live his life, but no one in this house has the courage to leave him and that is the sad part, thinking that we have taken away that full freedom, perhaps if I had found him already being As an adult squirrel it would be easier for him to reintegrate because he would have experience, but Chester was barely a baby when he came into our lives, I don't think he is ready for nature now. I recommend that if you have the magical opportunity to find a squirrel and decide to help it, try not to make the mistake of getting attached, unless you have a huge house with a garden and trees.
I am not a professional or expert in squirrels but i am available for any questions you may have about how to care of them.
Thank you for giving me a little of your time and reading my posts. (Sorry for my English).
ESPA脩OL:
Alimentaci贸n:
No Todo Es Felicidad:
