Hivers, Help Create The Best Guide To Hive!

I love Hive, and I want it to grow. I believe it's valuable and can lead us all into a great future.

So I'm investing an insane amount of time & energy into making a Hive Onboarding Guide for beginners.

(We're talking super beginner-friendly.)

When I'm done, hopefully we can give this guide to anyone. From teens to senior citizens, they'll all have a good experience joining Hive with this.

Imagine how helpful it will be.

It means no awkward conversations trying to explain Hive to new people, just paste a link to this guide.

It means helping someone, then not having them come back to you with question after question after question, because they've got a reference.

It means fewer ignorant newbies doing things 'wrong' on Hive, less 'bad Hive etiquette.'

But don't we already have beginner guides?

We do, and they're great. Many of the guides I've read were SO helpful in writing my own. (Huge props to people like @pitboy, @leofinance, and @slobberchops for educating me so much in such a short time.)

At the same time, most guides out there suffer from at least one (and often more) of these issues:

• Incomplete
• Overcomplicated
• Unclear
• Too general
• Too technical
• Intimidating
• Poorly organized
• Hard to follow
• Hard to find
• Lack of visuals

The guide I'm making will solve all of this.

It will be the clearest, friendliest, simplest, best-structured and easy-to-follow guide for beginners to Hive that exists.

I'm the right person to do this for a few reasons:

1. I'm a beginner, so I know exactly how beginners think, and I know all the pain-points beginners face while onboarding.
2. Teaching is also my 'day job' and I explain things in ways even a young kid can understand.
3. I'm artistic, so I'm able to create helpful, pretty visuals.

The only thing is, I need help.

I've only been on Hive for 9 days. And while I've learned as much as I can, there's still gaps in my knowledge. I don't want my inexperience to steer beginners wrong. Which means I need some kind-hearted 'Hive experts' to contribute to this guide.

So if you think my ambitious guide project will benefit the community, and you're willing to answer questions about Hive I may have, or fix rough spots in the guide, please let me know in the comments and I'll add you to my list of helpers. Then I'll ask for your input when I get to those sections, or perhaps a final proof-read.

I'm not in a position to offer payment for your valuable advice and contributions right now, but I can credit you in the guide. And who knows, if many people visit it, you may get extra attention? (Not that I expect it to blow up or anything... but it might, and it'd be cool AF if your name was attached to it.)

Anyway, here's a taste of what I've got done so far:

(I've actually done up to letter 'H'), but I wanted a small screenshot. You'll see the guide is in the form of a friendly conversation with a kid who wants to join Hive.

This means each 'section' of the guide is a 'human language' question that a newbie would ask. You can't see right now, but my answer to each question is friendly, clear, and as in-depth as necessary to get the point across.

It's kind of like a giant FAQ, but the questions are a Hive Walkthrough from start to finish.

To me, it's way friendlier and clearer than the official Hive FAQ, and it'll cover everything from (A) signing-up, to witnesses, the economy, and Hive politics (Z). (It's these last topics I'll need the most help with, I'm guessing, but even stuff like "how to convert Hive into bitcoin" or "proper Hive etiquette" I'm nearly clueless about.)

You may think this guide is too much, but my test readers have loved it so far.

And for people who don't want to read so much, it'll also have a "TL;DR" section.

Something like...

1. Join At Signup.Hive.io, ie: using HiveOnBoard.
2. Get The Hive Keychain (Wallet) Chrome Extension
3. Create & Backup Your Account & Keys
4. Import Provided Keys Into Keychain
5. Login To PeakD.com (or w/e) and Browse Hive!
6. Gain Resource Credits At GiftGiver.Site
7. Make First Post
8. Consume Content
9. **Engage **(Vote, Reply, Reblog)
10. Voting, Curation, Rewards, etc. etc. etc.

Anyway...

I'm excited and proud about this project, and I'll finish it as best I can, even if nobody feels inspired to help. (grin)
