#BeerSaturday: Classic BMW's and Craft Beer!!
This past Saturday some friends and I decided to go on a nice trip with our classic BMW motorcycles!! The round trip turned out to be 76 miles long (122km). (These bikes are so old the speedo's are still in miles.)
As usual, I was early and it is my bike that is standing there all on its own. This bike is a 1958 BMW R60.
As it goes with these old bikes, they do break down from time to time, and here my brother is busy trying to repair his bike, at our first stop which was Kitty Hawk, which is a small aerodrome for small planes. Unfortunately, he did not succeed to repair the bike and had to return home on a limping bike.
Our furthest point was the famous mining town of Cullinan. (This is where the biggest gem quality diamond was found in 1905) Here we visited a craft brewery named the Cockpit Brewhouse. All their BEERS are named after some classic aircraft. The BEER menu is below. (1$ = R15.00)
The first BEER I tried was the Spitfire which was an English Ale. The BEER was nice but not exceptional. It had a bit of a sour undertone, which I did not like.
The second BEER I tried was the Black Widow, which is a stout. This BEER was more to my liking although I did not get the chocolate taste as in the description.
Here are the last guys departing from Cullinan.
We had a great time riding our old bikes and socializing with each other!!
I hope you liked the post as much as I liked writing it!!
I hope you have a wonderful day!!
