In 2016 Uber lost no less than 2.8 billion dollars. In 2017 the loss was 4.5 billion dollars and in 2018 the loss is estemated around 4 billion. Up to the 10th of June 2018 more than 10 billion taxi trips were made in the 21 countries in which they operate with their total of approximately 16,000 employees. The company wants to be profitable within three years because of the planned IPO. Awaiting that, they sold leasing company Xchange and fired head of finance Prabir Adarkar and use a company registration in Amsterdam to avoid UK sales tax. The British treasury therefore lost 23 million pounds last year. Uber uses a fiscal construction whereby the company benefits from exemptions in both the British and Dutch tax laws.
