Tesla in liquidity problems
Tesla did not sell any new Model S or Model X after the termination of a subsidy scheme in Hong Kong. In the months of April and May, the sale collapsed completely after the measures to stimulate the sale of electric cars were discontinued. A Tesla Model S cost around $ 75,000 with subsidy and now costs $ 130,000. Tesla has requested suppliers to repay part of their previous payments dating back to 2016. The purchasing manager asked for a "substantial amount" from suppliers in a memo. The company made around 4 billion sales in the second quarter of 2018, but made $ 717 million (615 million euros) loss. 9 percent of the more than 37,500 people at the company have to leave the company to reduce costs. American customers waiting for the ordered Tesla model 3 must pay an additional deposit of $ 2500.
