A sunny Sunday is what we woke up to today. Despite the rainy forecast, I was surprised to see sunshine upon looking out the window this morning. Temperature was good too, reminded more of spring rather than mid January. After breakfast, I left the boys in the garden to play and went for a quick visit at my parents' place to see them and grandma.
While we were talking with my Mum, wondering what to cook again, she asked if I wanted to have some beef mince she bought on Saturday. Are you kidding? Of course, I said. It was a great chance to make a wonderful plate of spaghetti Bolognese!
When I got home, Little Man was asleep, he was exhausted from playing in the garden with his father and desperately needed a power nap. For me that was a great opportunity to get in my kitchen without distractions and start cooking!
For my sauce I sautéed a chopped medium onion and then added the mince. Some parsley, black pepper, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, allspice and salt went in the pot right after that. One spoon of apple balsamic once the juices of the meat started to dry out. One big spoon of mustard and a carton of tomato juice along with two glasses of water and my sauce was left to simmer for half an hour. My spaghetti was ready much quicker than that though...
During lunchtime, a little goat cheese on the side and there was nothing more to ask for! We even skipped salad today (well, we had run out of veggies and carrots was the only salad material I could use and we didn't feel like having carrots today).
Bon appetit!
