"Tick says the clock, tick tick, what you have to do, do quick".

This children's song should always be used as our phone ringtone as a reminder that time waits for no one as procrastination is indeed a thief of time.

I have always been a very playful child while growing up. Sometimes, I will be told to do something at home and I will procrastinate till I will have to do it at odd hours or my mum will have to give me her "default setting slap" to remind me 馃槃馃槃馃槃馃槃.

There was a day I was told by my mum to get some foodstuffs that will be needed for the next day. My mum was going out for an important meeting and told me to get them ready before she gets back. It is something I can get in the next street so I wouldn't need to go all the way to the market. She told me to get it on time so I wouldn't forget. And I nodded that I will.

About some minutes after she left, the power was restored and there is a movie my dad bought the day before so I decided to watch the movie thinking I would go and get what I needed after watching. I only planned to watch just one movie but it's a series and it was so interesting that I watched another and lost track of time.

It was after the power went out that I realized I'm yet to get the things needed and by then it was getting late. I quickly rushed down and lo and behold, what I wanted to get from the woman is finished, she told me she sold the last one about 10 minutes ago and there is nowhere else to get around unless I go to the market. And this is one of the reasons why the woman makes lots of sales as she is the only one selling those things around us which makes it easily accessible for people who don't want to go all the way to the market.

As I left her shop, I knew I was done; cooked, boiled haha. Not getting the things my mum told me to get before she gets back means trouble. I had no other option than to go to the market since it was getting late.

I had to race to the market as I wasn't given any Transport fare since I was told to get it around. I was panting heavily and also praying in my mind that I get what I need because I know that failure to do so would warrant me receiving the beating of my life.

Luckily for me, I was able to get the things needed and I raced back home breathing heavily. I was indeed lucky for my mum got back about 5 minutes after I came back. I was sweating profusely so I had to quickly rush into the bathroom to take a shower so she wouldn't notice I just did a marathon. I was happy I was able to get away with it or so I thought.

The next day, I have forgotten about my ordeal, I was going about my domestic chores, sweeping the compound when the woman I was to buy from passed by. She was on her way to the market where she buys her goods in bulk. I never knew she will even remember me when she stopped to ask me if I was able to get the foodstuffs I needed. I replied in affirmative and she left but unfortunately for me, my mum overheard our conversation and inquired why I didn't get it from her. I was stuttering thinking of a quick lie to save myself.

But knowing my mum, a stern look from her would have you confessing all your deep dark secrets. I had to tell the truth and I was glad she didn't discipline me. I was only given a serious warning to always do things on time so as not to fall into trouble. Since then I've learned my lessons and I do try to do things on time.

Thank you all for reading.
