A few days ago I got into a heated argument with a couple of friends about quality and what price had to do with it. From my friends point of view, anything which is expensive has to be quality. My argument was that it’s not always the case since some expensive things are pretty shit anyway. But then at the end they managed to rake up examples from no where just to proove me wrong.
The whole thing started from a drink that I bought. For some of us the drink is really nice but for a few of them we have overhyped the drink and it’s not that nice. They claim when they bought it the other time they didn’t understand why we liked it so much. They went on to compare it to one other similar drink called kalipo.
Kalipo was slightly more expensive than this other drink but not by a huge margin. From their arguments they were trying to saw we wanted the other one all because kalipo was more expensive than it, but then I keep asking myself will a price difference of about 0.5 cents deter us from buying kalipo if we liked it that much?
Since it was part of their points they didn’t wanna concede defeat. Eventually they brought in examples which didn’t really work here and eventually we had to stop arguing. Just imagine you bringing in expensive cars in a drink conversation? They made ridiculous comparisons but even after the argument am left wondering if what they said is really true.
Yes, I understand that with certain things the price dictate how quality they are but it’s not with all products certainly. A use case is a popular biscuit that I fell inlove with so much. When it first came out it had a lot of quality hence a lot of us loved it. After inflation and all that the company was trying to compromise its quality so they ended up destroying the biscuit.
Yes people still but it now even though it’s 3 times the price it was at first but not a lot of people but it now. They wanted to compromise the taste but then it’s ruined now. A lot of other biscuits didn’t compromise their taste but it’s way cheaper, so does the price of that biscuit make it quality? No.
When it comes to products does the price really matter. If it’s good it’s good right? Does it have to cost so much to prove it’s good?
