To fix the wall, I had to chisel it away and apply cement again because the leak had already been fixed years ago, but the wall itself was damaged. So the first thing I did was chisel away that section to remove everything that was damaged and bulging, and then I prepared a mixture of cement and anime dissolved in gasoline—I’d heard that this helps prevent moisture from coming back, since there’s a bathroom on the other side, and even though it doesn’t leak, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
After I applied that mixture and smoothed it out as much as I could, once it dried, I sanded it to remove any unevenness and then applied professional spackling paste. I also took the opportunity to remove nails and screws from other walls and fill in the holes, as well as the edges of the window and a skylight in the room, and then it was ready to be painted.

Para arreglar lo de la pared tenía que picotear y poner cemento otra vez porque lo de la filtración ya se había arreglado hace años pero estaba era el daño de la pared. Entonces lo primero que yo hice fue picotear esa parte para quitar todo lo que estaba dañado y levantado y después preparé una mezcla de cemento con anime disuelto con gasolina que vi que ayuda a evitar la humedad nuevamente porque del otro lado está un baño y aunque no se filtrar mejor es prevenir.
Después que eché esa mezcla y lo dejé lo más liso que pude, cuando se secó lo lije para quitar las irregularidades y luego le eché pasta profesional, y también aproveché de quitar clavos y tornillos que estaban en otras paredes y rellenar, además de los bordes de la ventana y de un tragaluz que tiene el cuarto y así ya estaba listo para pintar.
For the paint, I bought Type A paint because we were using a cheap kind that didn’t cover well, and when you wiped it with a damp cloth, it came right off. Since I know Miranda isn’t going to keep that room spotless, it’s better to use a good paint that’s easy to clean. We bought a Coloreal matte rubber paint, Kilateque edition, which cost $30, and we really liked it because it covers well—especially considering that the paint in that room was silk gloss—but it adhered well.
My wife and I painted it together because I’ve been spending a lot of time at my parents’ house, so she painted as high as she could reach, and I did the upper part so she wouldn’t have to climb a ladder. We painted the room in cloud gray and white. The wall where the bed and the beam are, along with the part of the wall where the beam starts, is white, and the rest is gray.

Para la pintura compré pintura tipo A porque estábamos usando una económica y no cubría bien y cuando le pasabas un paño húmedo se caía completa y como ese cuarto yo sé que Miranda no lo va a mantener impecable es mejor una buena y que se pueda limpiar. Compramos una de la marca Coloreal, de caucho mate, edición Kilateque que costó 30$, y nos gustó mucho porque cubre bien sobre todo tomando en cuenta que la pintura que tenía ese cuarto era brillo de seda, pero la agarró bien.
Pintamos entre mi esposa y yo porque yo estoy saliendo mucho para casa de mis padres, entonces ella pintó hasta donde llegaba y yo la parte alta para que ella no se subiera en las escaleras. El cuarto se pintó con gris nube y blanco. La pared donde esta la cama y la viga y parte de la pared donde nace la viga también y el resto gris.
Last night I finally finished what was left, and we arranged the furniture. Now my wife is going to take care of the closet—it needs to be painted inside and out—and as for the wall itself, we’re going to put up some adhesive sheets to keep moisture away from her clothes, and once that’s done and the paint smell is gone, she’ll be able to move into her room because, thank God, we installed the other air conditioner and set up a temporary seal in the hallway so the air doesn’t escape when the door moves.
Next, we’ll have to tidy up Matías’s room once all the furniture is moved out of Miranda’s.

Ya ayer en la noche por fin terminé lo que faltaba y organizamos los muebles, ahora mi esposa se va a encargar del closet que hay que pintarlo por dentro y por fuera y en lo que es pared como tal vamos a pegarle unas láminas adhesivas para evitar la humedad en su ropa, y ya cuando se termine eso y se salga todo el olor a pintura ella se podrá ir para su cuarto porque gracias a Dios montamos el otro aire y pusimos algo provisional en el pasillo para que no se escape el aire mientras se mueve la puerta.
Después tenemos ordenar el cuarto de Matías cuando se saquen todos los muebles de Miranda.
