It is a splash guard, a kitchen utensil used to cover pots or pans when cooking things that might splatter鈥攆or example, when frying, which causes oil to splatter and dirty the kitchen, the cabinets, and sometimes even the walls. My wife wanted this because, since we put up some adhesive panels in the kitchen, she doesn鈥檛 want them to get covered in oil so they don鈥檛 get damaged too quickly.
That day when we went with my mother-in-law, we saw it at Dibs, and there were different sizes available; the price varies depending on the size. The one we got is large so it would fit all our pans, and it cost $9, which I didn鈥檛 think was expensive as long as it did the job.

Es un protector antisalpicaduras, un utensilio de cocina que se usa para poner encima de las ollas o sartenes cuando se cocinan cosas que puedan saltar como por ejemplo cuando fre铆mos que salpica el aceite y ensucia la cocina los gabinetes y a veces hasta las paredes y esto lo quer铆a mi esposa porque como se pusieron unos paneles adhesivos en la cocina no quiere que se llenen de aceite para que no se da帽en muy r谩pido.
Ese d铆a que fuimos con la suegra lo vimos en Dibs y hab铆a diferentes tama帽os y el precio cambia dependiendo del tama帽o. El que nosotros agarramos es grande para que pudiera servir con todos los sartenes y cost贸 9$ que no me pareci贸 caro si es que cumpl铆a la funci贸n.
This utensil is a metal rack that lets steam escape but not oil, so you can cook without making a mess in the kitchen or on the cabinets鈥攁nd without the risk of getting burned. To use it, just place it over the pot or skillet; it comes with a handle for added safety. At the store, they had ones with plastic handles and ones with metal handles.

Este utensilio es una rejilla de metal que deja que salga el vapor pero no el aceite, entonces se puede cocinar sin ensuciar la cocina ni los gabinetes y tambi茅n sin riesgos de quemarnos, y para usarlo nada m谩s hay que ponerlo sobre la olla o el sart茅n y trae un mango para m谩s seguridad. Ah铆 en la tienda ten铆an con mango pl谩stico y tambi茅n de metal.
Nosotros agarramos el pl谩stico porque se calienta menos y nos ha ido bien porque s铆 funciona. El aceite que salpica se queda pegado en la malla y no en la cocina ni los gabinetes y cuando se enfria solamente se lava, se seca y se guarda.
I think it's a good product, and we use it every time we fry something. It's also great for when the kids cook because they don't have to worry about getting burned by the oil. My wife likes it, too, but she doesn't like that it starts to burn when it gets hot and the mesh is turning black. Still, it does the job because it keeps the stove free of oil.

Yo lo veo como un buen producto, y lo usamos cada ve que se fr铆e y tambi茅n es bueno para cuando los muchachos cocinan porque no tienen el miedo de quemarse con el aceite. A mi esposa tambi茅n le gusta, pero no le gusta que con el calor se va como quemando y se est谩 poniendo negra la malla, pero s铆 cumple con s铆 funci贸n porque la cocina se mantiene sin aceite.
