Hello, Splinterlands warriors!
Every time I move up another rank in Modern Mode, there is always a little sense of satisfaction. It’s not because Silver I sounds like some huge achievement, but because behind those words Silver I are so many battles that had to be fought. Some victories felt easy, while others left me wondering, “Was I actually playing strategically, or was I just testing my patience?”
This time, that journey finally brought me to Modern Silver I.
And as usual, once I got there, there was one thing that immediately came to mind: reward chests.
So I opened the reward chest I received. And as it turned out, the results were quite satisfying. This time, I didn’t just get supporting items. I also received quite a few cards that were added to my collection.
The cards I received were Magma Forged, Ironwing Juggernaut, Stonebind Matron, Grove Doombalde, Gravebrand Warlock, and Coralforged.
Seeing several cards pop out of a chest always gives me a little feeling that’s hard to explain. We all know that opening a chest doesn’t automatically mean getting the card we’re hoping for. Sometimes the contents are just average. Other times, we get something that makes us smile.
This time, I was one of the people smiling.
Not because I got a Legendary card or something that would suddenly make me rich. No. It was simply because some of the cards I received could actually be useful for growing my collection.
And then I noticed something even more interesting.
It turned out that the Grove Doombalde I received already had enough copies, or BCX, to level up.
Now, this is the kind of moment that usually makes me stop for a second.
Getting a new card is certainly exciting, but seeing a card you’ve been collecting for a while finally reach the required amount to level up gives you a completely different kind of satisfaction.
And so, Grove Doombalde leveled up.
The bonus wasn’t just an increase in its stats, either.
The card gained a new skill: Stun.
For me, this was the most interesting surprise from this chest opening.
Stun opens up new possibilities in battle because a successful attack can give you a chance to prevent the opponent from attacking on their next turn. In a close battle, making an opponent lose even a single turn can be the difference between winning and losing.
So a card that I initially saw as just another addition to my collection suddenly made me think, “Hmm... maybe you need to be tested on the battlefield.”
And as it happens, I already have a plan.
I’m going to try out Grove Doombalde’s new ability in my next battle using the Fire element.
This is what I find interesting about a reward system like this.
Chests aren’t simply about opening a reward and then moving on. Sometimes, a card we receive gives us a reason to try a new strategy. We start taking another look at cards that we might not have used very often before.
That’s also why I feel that growing your collection in Splinterlands doesn’t always have to come from rare cards.
Sometimes, an ordinary card that gets enough additional BCX to level up can become much more interesting than we expected.
The journey to Silver I also reminded me that every battle actually contributes to the growth of our collection. We battle, earn rewards, collect cards, and then combine them into BCX. Once we have enough, the card levels up and gains new abilities.
It’s simple, but the process takes time.
And perhaps it’s precisely because it takes time that the final result feels more rewarding.
This time, I didn’t get a card that made me jump out of my chair with excitement. But I did get something that I think could be more useful for the journey ahead: a card that has evolved and opened up a new strategic option.
Now my curiosity has shifted from the chest to the next battle.
How much of an impact will Grove Doombalde’s Stun actually have?
Will it really become an important card in my Fire team, or will I use it once and then completely forget about it again?
That’s Splinterlands for you. Sometimes, the card we think is just an ordinary one ends up becoming the star of the show. Other times, the card we carefully prepare ends up doing nothing more than watching its teammates fight.
But that’s also part of what keeps me enjoying the game.
And that was my chest reward experience after reaching Modern Silver I this time. Six cards were added to my collection, and the most interesting one for me was Grove Doombalde, which managed to level up and gain Stun.
Now it’s time to bring it to the arena.
Let’s see whether this Stun can really leave my opponents speechless.
If it does, maybe I’ll have to thank this particular chest.
See you in the next battle, Splinterlands warriors!
