Greetings, fellow Splinterlands warriors.

There are times when we play Splinterlands not because we're chasing victories or counting how much Glint we can collect, but because something suddenly makes us stop for a moment and say, “Oh, so that’s the story behind it.”

That’s exactly how I felt when Visions of Verico finally arrived.

Until now, we’ve known several cards as Mystery Cards. Their names were still shrouded in mystery, we didn’t really know what they looked like, and the question marks seemed to remind us that there was still an unfinished story. Well, now those question marks are finally being revealed one by one.

Six Mystery Cards have finally received their identities, artwork, names, and, most interestingly to me, their own lore and stories.

So, this isn’t simply a matter of changing the card artwork and calling it a day. These are characters that are beginning to feel alive.

What makes this feature even more interesting is that all six characters were born through collaboration with the Splinterlands community. Names such as Jeffopenscards, Lorkus, Lilyfire, Vugtis, Thor9, and Lonetree contributed ideas that helped these characters eventually become part of the world of Praetoria.

To me, this is where the uniqueness of Visions of Verico really lies.

Usually, we’re simply players. We show up, build our teams, battle, collect rewards, and then go back to battling. But this time, some members of the community were given the opportunity to leave their mark on the world of Splinterlands.

And the result is something quite special.

There’s Grimbold “Gnome-Bane” Ironfist, a Dwarf from Fire/Earth who carries an old grudge along with his warhammer. Then there’s Drowned Soulwarden, an Undead from Water/Death whose job seems rather peaceful, although his reflection in the water makes me a little suspicious.

Then we have Vel, an Elf from Earth/Life who appears to be an ordinary gardener. The difference is that his garden eventually leads him into a great mystery involving the ley lines of Praetoria.

There’s also The “Estimated Prophet”, a Tideborn from Life/Water. The name alone made me smile. His predictions may be impressive, but the sea doesn’t seem particularly interested in following the schedule he has set.

The other two characters are just as interesting: Fenmoor Ashwarden, a Khayali Djinn from Death/Fire who carries themes of death and new life, and Lonetree Protector, a Drakoshan from Earth/Dragon who would rather talk to trees than to people.

What I like about these six characters is that they don’t feel like characters simply added for the sake of it. Each one has a personality, a problem, and a story.

For longtime players, this certainly adds more color to the world of Splinterlands. But for new players, I think there’s a more important lesson: don’t look at cards only as numbers, statistics, or battle abilities.

Splinterlands has a world and a story that continue to grow. Getting to know the lore helps us understand a little more about why Praetoria feels like a world that is being built together.

And to me, that is the strength of the community in this game.

These six characters may only be a small part of the Splinterlands universe. But from a player’s idea, to artwork, and eventually into official lore, we can see that the community isn’t merely an audience.

We are helping build the world we play in.

If you’re a longtime player, take a moment to open the Lore tab and read the stories of these six characters. If you’re a new player, don’t rush past the story. Get to know the world of Splinterlands little by little. Who knows, maybe one day we won’t just be playing its story—we’ll be part of that story ourselves.
