Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!
While I usually hoard Glint to buy cards or open chests, this time I have other business. There is something eye-catching in the Glint Shop, especially as the Hallow's Fall 2026 atmosphere starts bringing a spooky vibe into the game.
For those who don't know, Hallow's Fall is a seasonal Splinterlands event that brings various Halloween-themed rewards and cosmetics. One thing that caught my attention is Spooky skins, which are special skins that change a card's appearance to look more unique, dark, or even playfully creepy.
I'm actually not someone who cares too much about skins. For me, powerful cards are still more important than cards that make opponents shudder. However, I have one weakness that's hard to hide: I love collecting nice things.
If there's an appealing skin and Glint is available, it feels a shame to pass it up. Who knows, maybe someday a certain skin will become a rare collectible. It's not guaranteed, but being a collector, sometimes the reasoning doesn't always make sense. What matters is a happy heart and a Glint balance that still allows it!
The first choice that really caught my attention is the Spooky Ballista Deadshot.
Oh, just look at that appearance! Ballista Deadshot, already known as a card with a strong character, now looks far more ferocious. Its new design gives a dangerous impression, as if it just returned from a place we'd better not visit alone at night.
I really like this design. Not just because it looks cool, but also because it fits the card's character. While I usually look at cards based on their utility in battle, this time I actually paused just to enjoy how it looks.
Will I keep using this skin later? Not necessarily. I don't always play cards at their maximum level, so this skin might end up living in my collection more often than appearing on the battlefield. Still, as far as design goes, I am quite satisfied.
Then there is the next choice: Spooky Fenmoor Gorgon, a skin for the dual-element promo card.
Now, this one has a different appeal.
The base version looks quite ordinary. But compared to the Spooky version, the change in appearance is striking. The design reminds me of an anime female character, complete with a lollipop and candy that blends a spooky vibe with something sweet.
It's pretty weird, isn't it? It's called Spooky, yet it brings candy. It seems even monsters are allowed to have time to enjoy a snack.
I like this Fenmoor Gorgon design because it feels more expressive and unique. If Ballista Deadshot looks ferocious, Fenmoor Gorgon has its own charm.
Skins don't add combat capabilities, but they give players room to enjoy the visual side and build collections to their taste.
The Glint I usually spend on card progression now has another purpose. And it turns out, collecting cosmetics can also provide its own satisfaction.
In the end, I buy skins not because I expect to win more easily. I buy them because I love the design and want to own them in my collection.
Spooky Ballista Deadshot and Spooky Fenmoor Gorgon became my two most eye-catching choices this time.
See you in the next collection, Splinterlands warriors!
