To the rest of the world, he was the little boy who disappeared on the 4th of July.
To me he was everything.
My heart hasn't been the same since he disappeared, but I've learned to build my life around that missing piece.
Twenty-two years later, the last thing I expect is for that missing piece to return.
His name is Oliver Linch, and this is his story, our story.

Hello Hive universe, I'm Rosmery caraballo and today I want to share with you a little review of this wonderful novel titled "Lotus".

"Lotus" a story by Jenifer hartman, tells the story of Oliver Linch, the boy who mysteriously disappeared one 4th of July, and who was not heard from again until 22 years later, when he himself, now as an adult, came out of the hiding place in which he was forced to live for so many years and from which he never escaped for the reason that in his manipulable mind as a child he was instilled with the idea that the outside was not habitable and that, if he came out, he would die.

Now Oliver, upon going outside as a desperate attempt at survival, finds not only that all of the above was a sham, but also that all that time he had a debauched but charming stepbrother and none other than his childhood sweetheart looking for clues to his whereabouts.
Now returned to the strange place that was once his home, Oliver must face two new challenges:

  1. coping with the many changes in his life and taking his life back into his own hands, dealing with the various ravings of society by learning to cope with them.

  2. To discover the dark reason behind his kidnapping so many years ago, and why his comics, the ones he created during his confinement, seem to hold the answers to the mystery.

"Lotus" is, in my opinion, a pink novel with a story as peculiar as curious, in which you can find both mystery and drama, comedy, romance, among many other literary elements that create, along with the peculiar plot, a gripping story and to tell the truth very light to read.

The book also deals with different topics, among them kidnapping, an unfortunately common topic in our society, and which is sadly the reality of many people. In spite of the dark subject matter of the book, it is comforting that it can be shown in the most "pink" way possible, without downplaying or minimizing in any way the terrible aftermath.

In terms of character development, I could say that it is a resounding success the way in which you can see a heartwarming development and emergence on the part of the protagonist, something to be expected from a novel that is largely about self-improvement.
However, I could not say the same about the protagonist (Sidney), because although she did have an undeniable personal development in certain issues, there were others that were not fully addressed, and from which I would have expected a better advance in it.

However, in spite of the above, the novel as such has a very good plot and narration, in addition to all the aforementioned elements that make "Lotus" a novel that is totally worth reading.

Without more to add, here I leave you with this endearing and funny novel that I can attest that you will not regret reading.
