These few days, I've been craving for nasi lemak. Usually, i eat nasi lemak only once a day, sometimes, not at all. But last week, I've been taking nasi lemak for breakfast and lunch. Luckily i didn't take nasi lemak for dinner 😅.
Last Friday i ordered nasi lemak from a restaurant called Santan. Their nasi lemak is popular because they are the food supplier for Air Asia. In case you are wondering, the name santan, means coconut milk. Coconut milk is an essential ingredients for nasi lemak.
If u seen the menu in Air Asia flight, nasi lemak is stated as "Malaysian coconut milk rice, served with sambal, fried crispy anchovies, toasted peanuts and cucumber". Quite a fancy name for nasi lemak 😎
There are not many people in the restaurant. Including me, there were 3 persons, and the order need to be done at the self-service kiosk. I need to wait for my turn since only one kiosk is open. There are three kiosk in total, one i closed for social distancing purpose. Another one kiosk is out of service.
Before i ordered, i asked in whatsapp group whether any of my colleagues want to get nasi lemak. Three of my colleagues wanted nasi lemak also. Since there is a lot of nasi lemak to choose from, they say just buy same menu as me.
I've ordered a total of four nasi lemak with beef rendang. For MYR11.90, the nasi lemak comes with bottled drink. Since I'm cutting down on sugar, i took the bottled mineral water.
While waiting for my orders to complete, i sat at the waiting area. Took several pictures of the decorations in the restaurant. In actuality, the decorations was not that pretty. What make it interesting is, the way the light shine down and create an unique shadows.
After waited for 15 minutes, my orders was complete. I pick it up at the counter and head back to office.
The beef rendang was really good and tender. Paired with sambal, the taste was amazing. My colleagues told me that if we eat the nasi lemak in flight, the taste is twice better. Not sure whether it is true. Or just a placebo effect.
