It has been quite some time since the last time I had a meeting over lunch. I think it has been more than 2 years ever since Pandemic hits Malaysia. Face to face meeting was not allowed as per my company policy.
I was sitting at my table, when one of my colleague came to my place and said that our company business partner wanted to meet him and me. They wanted to have a short discussion over lunch.
Since I do not have any plan for lunch, I said to my colleague that I will be joining the discussion. Plus, the business partner will be the one paying for the lunch 😁
The restaurant that been choose by our business partner is Coliseum Café. The restaurant is located at lower ground floor of Midvalley Megamall. I and my colleague walk from our office to the Coliseum Café.
Established in 2921, Coliseum Cafe & Grill is one of the oldest in the country and is a walk down memory lane for KL in the early 1920's: https://www.coliseum1921.com/
The interior setting inside Coliseum Café is like in old days. Personally for me, the interior was like in the 1950's or 1960's. Something that is often seen in old black & white movies, such as Tan Sri P. Ramlee movies.
Tan Sri Datuk Amar Teuku Zakaria Bin Teuku Nyak Puteh, better known by his stage name P. Ramlee, was a Malayan actor, filmmaker, musician, and composer famous in both modern-day Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Southern Thailand.: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P._Ramlee
I wanted to take few more photograph of the interior of the restaurant. But I'm afraid the customer would feel uncomfortable seeing me pointing my smartphone and taking pictures.
The table I was sitting was located exactly in the middle of the restaurant. Because only this table can accommodate more than 8 person. Other than me and my colleague, there were another six person from my business partner side.
The downside of sitting at this table was, customers sitting at each corner in the restaurant can clearly see you.
This is what I ordered for my lunch. The name of this dish is Roasted Chicken Leg. It taste as good as it look. The price for this dish was around 7USD. As for drink, I only order a plain water.
The Objective of the discussion was to introduce my business partner new sales manager. He newly join the company and originated from Tongzhou, Beijing.
I have done few projects with sales manager or engineer from China and the common issue was, I and them always have a language barrier. But the new sales manager can converse very well in English. I can imagine that I can communicate with him better compared to previous sales manager
