I've got a big surprise for Splinterlands' fans that I hope to post soon, but in the meantime, let me give you my quick observations for yesterday's play in Splinterlands! I'll post my "Splinterlands Log" daily in the hopes someone will read this and give me some much needed advice! HA!
Fire and Ice don’t mix. Basically every match I played using the fire cards, I found the water cards would trump me. It makes sense of course. In real life, water’s quite powerful and quite a danger to the life of a fire. But SURELY there’s a way to overcome this water monster? Is it really invincible, or am I just missing its power? I’ll need to investigate further or else get better at playing the water cards! HA!
Well, I'd probably say it's with the order of the cards. I find the order of the cards fascinating to me! If I play the exact same cards I saw another player use, but I put them in a different order, those cards seem practically useless. I’m clearly needing to study the order of the cards. It’s like chess I suppose; you need strategy. I just have no idea what that strategy is yet, but what I love most about Splinterlands is I don’t feel hopeless that I’ll never find my own strategy in the game. I’m able to see the play by play, and I can even re-watch the match if I need to examine it closer. I got that advice from 
So what I’ve learned is to break down the cards in the simplest form so that I’m not overwhelmed by all their extra abilities. I focus on just a few cards and try not to stress over understanding the entire spellbook in one sitting. I’ve learned that practice makes perfect. If you keep playing, eventually you WILL get better. You start to see the patterns, the common cards others are using when they play and you don’t need the best cards in the deck to make an amazing play! We all have our favorite cards. Certainly I’m a Queen of Hearts fan with a regular deck, so I’m looking forward to finding my “Queen of Hearts” in the game. I’d be curious to know what some of your favorite cards are that you enjoy using and why! I think people will be surprised at how much personality is in these cards and why we all have different favorites we rely on in our Splinterlands Games.
My first day in this new season tells me this: keep going, you’ve got this! I completed my quest, and got some lovely crystals for that, so if I just did that alone, I’d be growing in my numbers over time! But I have quite a good feeling that Splinterlands is definitely the place to be right now. If you’re learning as well, then please join me and we can help each other along!
